The study takes up the subject of the history of the Catholic community living in the town of Olesno and the surrounding villages, belonging to the Olesno parish. Thanks to the marriage records in Polish language from 1819-1829, preserved in the National Archives in Opole, it is possible to present using statistical methods: how many weddings took place in the parish in particular months of the year, what day of the week was most often chosen for a wedding, what was the marital status of the newlyweds, their age at the time of marriage, along with their social and geographical origin. On the basis of the resulting data, it can be concluded that Olesno in the previously mentioned years was a dynamically developing urban center, that attracted people looking for work even from afar. The article is based on the study of the Catholic parish in Praszka by Zbigniew Szczerbik.
