Bucharest-Ilfov region's population (2,264,865 inhabitants in 2012) is distributed inversely proportional to the size of two administrative entities (Bucharest - the capital of Romania - Ilfov county). Bucharest is the largest urban agglomeration in Romania, its population being 1,924,299 inhabitants, representing about 85% population of the region, more than 16.4% of the urban population of the country, or around 9% of the total population of Romania and having a density of approximately 8090 people/km2.
