Numerous rescue archaeology projects in recent years have contributed to a considerable increase in our knowledge of early Iron Age rural (non-fortified) settlements. Along with the abundant finds from these sites, recent excavations have provided a better understanding of the organisation of this type of rural settlement where the main activities seem ta be associated with agriculture. Numerous archaeobotanical samples are giving us a new insight into this agricultural production.
