International audience; In a context of competition between student cities, the local level is increasingly involved in improving student living conditions and is working to make their territory more attractive to students. A focus is made on the "Aide à l'Installation dans un Logement pour les Étudiants" (Help for students to settle in) of the city of Paris, a system that aims to promote the social mix of students. A quantitative evaluation of the system was carried out using the theory of capabilities. The program has increased the scope of possibilities by giving students the opportunity to live in Paris. However, the autonomy so sought after by the students is specific in that the financial autonomy is partial. In short, the program has a relative effect on precariousness and the reduction of social inequalities among students in a city that suffers from them
