English Abstact: Globalization has led to relevant economic changes. It has also influenced, both in amount and quality, economic and commercial relationships, also favoring an increase in the number of commercial disputes. All these factors have directly led to the expansion of summary procedures and also, of ADR, specially of arbitration as one the typical mechanisms used to solve international commercial disputes. In the field of arbitration it has fostered important changes in some of its main features: new arbitration legislation has been developed, new institutions have been created and their regulations reformed, new protagonists –including in some cases the State-are nowadays involved and the modus operandi of arbitration, of the arbitration community and stakeholders has also varied. All these changes have led to a certain feeling of change, even of crisis. Efficiency and celerity are two principles/goals that underline some of these changes undergone by civil procedure as well as by arbitration. They are projected in the growing recourse to summary proceedings that, in some cases, become the general rule, and also the generalization of emergency arbitrators. Changes in the field of arbitration remain and will probably increase in the near future. Also the reality of artificial intelligence has a role to play in the area of dispute resolution and, in relation to arbitration, too. A path towards the use of robots and AI in the field of arbitration seems to have started and the future will state whether, or not, it becomes unstoppable.
