Joaquin.Beltran@uv.es En este estudio léxico hemos querido comprobar si la terminología para “la muerte” se mantenía constante en autores tan distanciados temporalmente como Lucrecio, Séneca, San Agustín y Sidonio. Las diferencias encontradas se deben fundamentalmente al hecho de escribir en prosa o verso y también a la ideología. Si ellas no son notables en la terminología básica, si lo son en las perífrasis para el suicidio, así como el creciente uso de ciertos participios sustantivados. In this lexical essay we have tried to demonstrate if the terminology for “death” was kept as a constant in authors as distant temporarily as Lucretius, Seneca, Augustine and Sidonius. The differences found are due basically to the fact of writing either in prose or in verse and to the ideology as well. If these differences are not essential in the basic terminology, they are important in the periphrasis for the suicide and in the increasing use of participles used as nouns.
