L’argot de la prostitution et sa présence dans les dictionnaires d’aujourd’hui

The aim of this text is to study the slang of prostitution and its presence in today’s dictionaries. We decided to focus only on the lexical field “prostitute” and the slang expressions used to describe her. We have classified all the words into the following subcategories: prostitute compared to a food, prostitute compared to an animal, prostitute compared to an object that is used frequently, prostitute compared to a child, prostitute compared to a waitress, prostitute characterized by her place of work, prostitute characterized by her qualities and defects. To observe the presence of analysed words in dictionaries, we used two general dictionaries (Larousse, CNRTL), a specialized dictionary (Argonji) and a bilingual French-Czech dictionary (Grand Dictionnaire Français-Tchèque).
