description

International audience; We present for the first time the results of the sub-Doppler spectroscopy realized with a nanocell filled with a Sodium metal. The thickness L of the gap between the windows (which determines the length of the atomic vapor column) has a wedge in the vertical direction varying from 100 to 900 nm. It is demonstrated that the use of a nanocell with the thickness L=lambda/2 and L=lambda, where lambda is the wavelength of the dye laser radiation resonant with D2 line of Sodium, allows one to provide sub-Doppler spectroscopy of the Transmission and Fluorescence spectra of D2 lines of Sodium (lambda ~ 590 nm). A cw dye laser radiation with the linewidth of ~1 MHz and tunable in the range of several GHz has been used.
