Il lavoro analizza alcuni elementi della storia linguistica di Palermo nei decenni a cavallo dell’unificazione. In primo piano vi è il legame tra pratiche e immagini, entrambi legati sia alla dimensione linguistica che spaziale. attraverso testi religiosi e scolastici, guide della città, cambiamenti nella toponomastica e nel paesaggio linguistico urbano, descrizioni di antropologi e linguisti e loro scelte trascrizionali, viene alla ribalta un momento dell’immaginario urbano di Palermo, cioè dell’insieme di rappresentazioni e idee attraverso le quali quella società urbana ha costruito il suo autoritratto. The paper examines some elements of the linguistic history of Palermo in the decades of straddling unification. In the foreground there is the link between practices and images, both linked to either linguistic or spatial dimension. Through religious and scholastic texts, city guides, changes in place names and in linguistic urban landscape, descriptions of anthropologists and linguists and their transcriptional choices, comes to the fore the moment of the imaginary city of Palermo, in the set of representations and ideas through which the urban society has built it’s self-portrait.
