description

NO ME PERMITE TERMINAR DE INCLUIR EL RESUMEN EnglishImages can be a point of influence for the creation of other images, stories or characters. This is true of the mythical Mary Magdalene, a contaminating factor in the creation of a whole line of heiresses, among them fallen women. These characters experienced their apogee in 19th-century literature and art, before making the move to cinema and becoming especially prevalent in the second decade of the 20th century. This paper studies this phenomenon in North American cinema of the period between 1910 and 1919. Two main issues are addressed: the legacy of Mary Magdalene and its theoretical foundations; and the possibilities offered by the film press in gaining an understanding of films that have not survived to this day.
