description

Acoustic vibrations of nanoparticles were first observed using inelastic light scattering 4 decades ago. Significant advances in the synthesis of nano-objects and frequency and time-domain spectroscopy techniques have made it possible to investigate the sensitivity of these vibrations to the structure (size, shape, crystal structure) and environment of the nano-objects. This lecture will present an overview of this field and focus in particular on recent experimental results and models required to describe the acoustic vibrations of various kinds of nano-objects and their symmetry.References:- E.
