description

In this article the author tries to show the direct relationships that are established between the possibilities offered by the Internet and a participatory improvement. Citizen participation is a basic element in anydemocratic construction, so using the tools available with the growth of the Internet is a crucial issue for democratic progress. Obviously the relationship with social networks is also widely discussed and studied, reflecting on whether the political advances involved are sufficient for better collective coexistence or if, on the contrary, it is a projection of apparent progress. Finally, the issue related to electronic voting is analyzed as a paradigm of online participatory process highlighting its positive aspects and, especially, the democratic damage it entails.Summary:1. Internet and citizen participation. 2. Social networks and citizen participation. 3. E-democracy, democratic progress? 4. Reflections on electronic voting.
