Abstract This study analysed the psychometric properties of the Perception of Well-being Promotion for Coaches’ Scale (EPPBE), which was composed by 6 dimensions: Self-control, punishment, social support, autonomy support, competence support, and relatedness support. The scale was administered to a sample of 506 coaches and a Confirmatory Factorial Analysis was performed. Nomologic validity was analysed by the relationships with psychological need satisfaction and self-determined motivation. The model showed an adequate adjustment to the data. Punishment did not correlate with the other variables, which where positively related between them, competence and autonomy support showing a very high correlation. All dimensions with the exception of perceived punishment were positively related with need satisfaction and self-determined motivation. Punishment only was negatively related with self-determined motivation. Reported relationships supported postulates of Self-determination Theory and studies performed with athletes. As conclusion, the scale EPPBE showed good psychometric properties and adequate validity to be used as measurement tool.
