description

This chapter restares the prominence of Héléne Cixous as a significant author for the representation of the female point of view in contemporary theatre: her theoretical works specify the concept of 'Feminine Writing' and question the meaning of vision and the act of seeing and knowing. Cixous' dramatic production is susceptible of a threefold division based on its circumstances of writing and performance, and makes her political stance and anthropological lesson explicit. Cixous' translation of 'Eumenides' allowed for an innovative interpretation of the tragedy and of Aeschylus which provides new hints on the relevance of Greek theatre.
