Análisis de contenido de la representación del cuerpo en un libro de texto de Educación Preescolar

La construccion social y cultural del cuerpo influye en el conocimiento personal y de los otros. Los libros de texto transmiten el capital cultural de una sociedad a sus ciudadanos mas pequenos. El objetivo del estudio consiste en describir la forma en que se representa el cuerpo en las imagenes de un libro de texto de educacion preescolar. Se realizo un analisis de contenido de las imagenes a traves de un codigo elaborado en estudios previos. Las ninas y ninos son representados con gran diferencia respecto a otros sectores poblacionales y se observo igualdad de presencia de mujeres y hombres independientemente de su edad. Con gran diferencia se representa un cuerpo entero vestido con ropa de calle. Se representa un nivel de actividad motriz estatico y no es posible en un gran porcentaje de ellas distinguir la ubicacion del cuerpo en un entorno fisico determinado. Se espera que este estudio pueda inspirar una lectura atenta y critica de los libros de texto de educacion preescolar y una mayor profundizacion en este campo de la investigacion pedagogica. Se invita a la comunidad educativa preescolar a generar un ejercicio critico sobre los materiales curriculares que se incorporan a sus aulas. Abstract Bodies are naturally and socially constructed. The social construction of the body influences the perception of self and others. Textbooks transmit a society’s cultural capital to its youngest citizens. The aim of the study was to describe how the body is portrayed in images featured in a Preschool textbook for the first grade of early childhood education. A content analysis of the images was performed using a coding frame based on previous studies. Girls and boys appeared nearly twice than adolescents, adults and older people. There was an equal representation of women and men regardless of age. It was found noticeable representation of a whole body dressed with street clothing. The activity level was predominantly static and in more than half of the images was not possible to distinguish the space where the bodies were located. The textbook as a conventional curricular material should be analyzed in terms of the hidden curriculum in order to provide alternative forms of understanding the body as a social and cultural construction. The results suggest the need for further analysis of the textbooks in early childhood education system.
