The research concerns the stairs so-called "alla Trapanese" in the work of the engineer and architect Francesco La Grassa (1876-1952), one of the most representative exponents of the architecture in Sicily between the two world-war. Starting from a systematic study of this type of staires in the civil architecture of Trapani between nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the essay analyze four cases pertaining to buildings located in Trapani. with different characteristics, both private and public, united by the same type of the construction system: Ferrante house (1908), Nasi house (since 1913), Montalto palace (1924-19325) and the Posts and Telegraphs palace (1923-1927). The analysis of individual artifacts has allowed to highlight similarities of character building, but also differences, since are different for geometric and formal characteristics.
