[EN]: The interest in conducting this thesis is due to two main reasons. On the one hand the strong growth of Sociology in Spain in recent times, on the other hand the lack of research on doctoral theses in the field of sociology. The purpose of this work is to study the actors involved in the developing process of Sociology doctoral theses in Spain between 1976 and 2013. The aim is to identify the structure of the underlying relationships among academics, to create a map of academic positions in the field of Sociology and to identify research trends. The methodology used to achieve the overall objective was social networks analysis, combined with statistical indicators. We selected the theses presented in Spanish universities that offered the degree in Sociology in their studies, classified by descriptors of Sociology and its derivatives in the TESEO database from 1976 through 2013. Catalogs of universities and the Tesis Doctorals en Xarxa (TDX) database were consulted as complementary databases. A preliminary selection of universities was made to choose the records and then, searches were carried out in TESEO combining code 63 descriptors with the selected universities. A database, in which the information was normalized and all the necessary data were extracted, was implemented with all the obtained records. The most relevant results are described below. 3,413 theses have been recovered, with a progressive increase which went from 54 theses conducted in 1976-1980 to 1,084 in the period 2006-2010. Madrid Complutense University is the institution that contributes the most, with 1,012 theses. By gender, 46.3% were written by women and 53.7% by men. 2,182 researchers have participated as supervisors. 2,728 theses have been defended with a supervisor, 602 theses with two supervisors and 46 theses with three supervisors. Co-supervisors index is 1.2. Salustiano del Campo Urbano (Sociology) is with 24 theses the supervisor with more theses, followed by Pedro Antonio Cordero Quinones (Sociology) and Ángel Espina Baldomero Barrio (Social Anthropology). In the analysis of supervisors’ networks, applying the threshold of two or more supervisions in common, 403 groups of academics, who relate when co-supervising theses, are formed. Of the two largest groups (n = 14), Pedro Antonio Cordero Quiñones University of Salamanca and Josep Lluis Espluga Trenc at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, are the most representative. The gender analysis of supervisors showed that 589 were women (27.0%) and 1,593 were men (73.0%) out of 2,182 different supervisors. There are 2,489 academics within the academic assessment boards and have participated in more than one of them. 85 is the maximum number of times a person has participated in academic assessment boards and they correspond to Luis Enrique Alonso Benito, from the Madrid Autónoma University. The representative of Sociology with a greater number of presences in academic assessment boards is Salustiano del Campo Urbano. 325 academics participate, as members of academic boards, in networks with more than two co-participations in assessment boards. 39 groups are formed in total, the largest one is integrated by 153 academics. In this proup, Luis Enrique Alonso Benito, Carlos Moya Valgañón and Salustiano del Campo Urbano are the academics with more co-participations with other different academics. In the network of invitations, Julio Iglesias de Ussel is the academic who most recommended or invited other academic. He invited Peter Boyer Caston eight times to participate in academic assessment boards in which he was supervisor. The gender analysis of supervisors showed that 73.3% are men and 26.7% are women out of 2,489 different members of academic assessment boards. The number of
