The impact of musical activities on learning achievements at the end of grade 1. When comparing two groups of pupils, one having benefited from a specific music program before entering grade 1 (2 or 4 hours per week at the least preprimary grade) and the other not, one finds out that this experimentation had a lasting positive impact on learning achievements. Indeed, an assessment of school performances in reading and mathematics at the end of grade 1 also shows that this impact proves even stronger one year later, especially when considering less bright children, non french or pupils with shorter preschooling experience. Hence, this experimentation has proved beneficial both on a pedagogical and on an equity point of view.
