The aim of this article is to provide a new way of teaching the irony in the Spanish Language classroom, through a pragmatic and cross-cultural teaching approach. In order to do this, it is suggested the use of newspaper columns, understood from the pragmatic perspective, as a teaching tool since this type of texts are used to reflect irony and sociocultural-aspects.
