The dual and the double of a Hopf algebroid are Hopf algebroids

2017

Let $H$ be a $\times$-bialgebra in the sense of Takeuchi. We show that if $H$ is $\times$-Hopf, and if $H$ fulfills the finiteness condition necessary to define its skew dual $H^\vee$, then the coopposite of the latter is $\times$-Hopf as well. If in addition the coopposite $\times$-bialgebra of $H$ is $\times$-Hopf, then the coopposite of the Drinfeld double of $H$ is $\times$-Hopf, as is the Drinfeld double itself, under an additional finiteness condition.

Categorical action of the extended braid group of affine type $A$

2017

Using a quiver algebra of a cyclic quiver, we construct a faithful categorical action of the extended braid group of affine type A on its bounded homotopy category of finitely generated projective modules. The algebra is trigraded and we identify the trigraded dimensions of the space of morphisms of this category with intersection numbers coming from the topological origin of the group.

Near-field observation of subwavelength confinement of photoluminescence by a photonic crystal microcavity

2006

We present a direct, room-temperature near-field optical study of light confinement by a subwavelength defect microcavity in a photonic crystal slab containing quantum-well sources. The observations are compared with three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain calculations, and excellent agreement is found. Moreover, we use a subwavelength cavity to study the influence of a near-field probe on the imaging of localized optical modes. © 2006 Optical Society of America.

Monitoring of atrazine treatment on soil bacterial, fungal and atrazine-degrading communities by quantitative competitive PCR

2003

We report the development of quantitative competitive (QC) PCR assays for quantifying the 16S, 18S ribosomal and atzC genes in nucleic acids directly extracted from soil. QC-PCR assays were standardised, calibrated and evaluated with an experimental study aiming to evaluate the impact of atrazine application on soil microflora. Comparison of QC-PCR 16S and 18S results with those of soil microbial biomass showed that, following atrazine application, the microbial biomass was not affected and that the amount of 16S rDNA gene representing 'bacteria' increased transitorily, while the amount of 18S rDNA gene representing fungi decreased in soil. In addition, comparison of atzC QC-PCR results wit…

Microbial diversity and structure are drivers of the biological barrier effect against Listeria monocytogenes in soil

2013

International audience; Understanding the ecology of pathogenic organisms is important in order to monitor their transmission in the environment and the related health hazards. We investigated the relationship between soil microbial diversity and the barrier effect against Listeria monocytogenes invasion. By using a dilution-to-extinction approach, we analysed the consequence of eroding microbial diversity on L. monocytogenes population dynamics under standardised conditions of abiotic parameters and microbial abundance in soil microcosms. We demonstrated that highly diverse soil microbial communities act as a biological barrier against L. monocytogenes invasion and that phylogenetic compos…

The ambiguities of "granted constitutionalism" : a transatlantic debate (III)

2018

Our journey ends in Brazil. According to textbooks of constitutional history, this "periphery" country, recently independent, looked with envy at the European and North American constitutional novelties, not without trying to maintain its identity. Olhos na Europa, pés na América? Doubtless ; still it is necessary to measure the extent of this "Europe", admired in space as in time. The doctrine, criticizing the granted Constitution of 1824, qualified of nominal, had too long hid the reality, even the efficiency, of a constitutionalism in singular outlines, which involves both social and institutional engineering, thus not reducible to the modern constitutionalism. The political actors of Br…
