Śpiewy kalwaryjskie z Góry Świętej Anny. Źródła

2019

Badania tradycyjnego repertuaru religijnego na ogół przedstawiają się podobnie jak w przypadku materiału świeckiego. Obowiązują tu, wypracowane na gruncie dyscypliny metody gromadzenia. Specyfika religijnego przekazu otwiera jednak możliwości analizy porównawczej dostępnych źródeł w postaci użytkowych publikacji drukowanych, rękopisów i zapisów instrumentalnych. Istotnym elementem zatrzymującym procesy zanikania tradycyjnych form jest również sam obrzęd, wykazujący wiele cech stałości. Wszystko to zauważamy na przykładzie religijnej tradycji muzycznej kalwaryjskich obchodów na Górze św. Anny na Śląsku Opolskim, gdzie muzyczna kultura ludowa posiada własną specyfikę i koloryt związany z funk…

Od symbolu animozji polsko-niemieckich do retoryki pojednania. Obraz Góry św. Anny w XX i XXI wieku

2021

The article describes the way St. Anne’s Mountain has been presented over time by giving it different meanings and (re)interpretations on religious and historical-political levels. The religious description of this place is defined by a pompous narrative style and appealing to readers’ emotions. In the historical-political dimension, the mechanism of national mythologization and instrumentalization of St. Anne’s Mountain were shown. It was also pointed out that after 1989 another reinterpretation took place, taking the form of the reconciliation rhetoric. The role of the Catholic Church in the process is presented and the dangers are indicated: reducing reconciliation to a vapid expression …

Distance-based functions for image comparison

1999

The interest in digital image comparison is steadily growing in the computer vision community. The definition of a suitable comparison measure for non-binary images is relevant in many image processing applications. Visual tasks like segmentation and classification require the evaluation of equivalence classes. Measures of similarity are also used to evaluate lossy compression algorithms and to define pictorial indices in image content based retrieval methods. In this paper we develop a distance-based approach to image similarity evaluation and we present several image distances which are based on low level features. The sensitivity and eAectiveness are tested on real data. ” 1999 Published…

Ziemie Prus w trakcie polskiej wojny sukcesyjnej i wojny siedmioletniej

2021

A comparison of simplex and simulated annealing for optimization of a new rear underrun protective device

2012

In this paper, two optimization approaches to improve the product design process have been analysed. Through the analysis of a case study, concerning the designing of a new High Energy Absorption Rear Underrun Protective Device (HEARUPD), two different optimization approaches (simplex and simulated annealing) have been compared. In the implemented optimization processes, the crash between an economy car and the rear part of a truck has been simulated by dynamic numerical (FEM) analyses. Moreover, authors have proposed the use of a suitable linear function of four variables with the purpose of reducing the multi-objective optimization processes to mono-objective ones. That has been made to s…

Converting retirement benefit into a life care annuity with graded benefits

2016

AbstractThis paper deals with life care annuities, i.e. bundled products comprising a life annuity and long-term care insurance. It aims to assess the cost of converting retirement benefit into a life care annuity with graded benefits using a pre-existing public pay-as-you-go pension scheme. With this objective in mind, we present an actuarial method based on array calculus for valuing this type of life care annuity. The health dynamics of the annuitant rely on a reversible illness-death multistate framework. The paper contains a numerical example in which mortality and disability assumptions are based on data from the USA and Australia, although this should be viewed simply as an illustrat…

Modeling Posidonia oceanica growth data: from linear to generalized linear mixed models

2010

The statistical analysis of annual growth of Posidonia oceanica is traditionally carried out through Gaussian linear models applied to untransformed, or log-transformed, data. In this paper, we claim that there are good reasons for re-considering this established practice, since real data on annual growth often violate the assumptions of Gaussian linear models, and show that the class of Generalized Linear Models (GLMs) represents a useful alternative for handling such violations. By analyzing Sicily PosiData-1, a real dataset on P. oceanica growth data gathered in the period 2000–2002 along the coasts of Sicily, we find that in the majority of cases Normality is rejected and the effect of …

Modelling the Frequency of Interarrival Times and Rainfall Depths with the Poisson Hurwitz-Lerch Zeta Distribution

2022

The Poisson-stopped sum of the Hurwitz–Lerch zeta distribution is proposed as a model for interarrival times and rainfall depths. Theoretical properties and characterizations are investigated in comparison with other two models implemented to perform the same task: the Hurwitz–Lerch zeta distribution and the one inflated Hurwitz–Lerch zeta distribution. Within this framework, the capability of these three distributions to fit the main statistical features of rainfall time series was tested on a dataset never previously considered in the literature and chosen in order to represent very different climates from the rainfall characteristics point of view. The results address t…

Influence of rounding errors on the quality of heuristic optimization algorithms

2011

Abstract Search space smoothing and related heuristic optimization algorithms provide an alternative approach to simulated annealing and its variants: while simulated annealing traverses barriers in the energy landscape at finite temperatures, search space smoothing intends to remove these barriers, so that a greedy algorithm is sufficient to find the global minimum. Several formulas for smoothing the energy landscape have already been applied, one of them making use of the finite numerical precision on a computer. In this paper, we thoroughly investigate the effect of finite numerical accuracy on the quality of results achieved with heuristic optimization algorithms. We present computation…

Investigation of acceptance simulated annealing — A simplified approach to adaptive cooling schedules

2010

Abstract Simulated annealing is the classic physical optimization algorithm, which has been applied to a large variety of problems for many years. Over time, several adaptive mechanisms for decreasing the temperature and thus controlling the acceptance of deteriorations have been developed, based on the measurement of the mean value and the variance of the energy. Here we propose a new simplified approach in which we consider the probability of accepting deteriorations as the main control parameter and derive the temperature by averaging over the last few deteriorations stored in a memory. We present results for the traveling salesman problem and demonstrate, how the amount of data retained…
