L'enseignement supérieur européen au regard de la préparation professionnelle de ses étudiants

2001

International audience; This article looks at to what extent higher education studies prepare their students for the labour market. Using comparative data from the CHEERS project (Careers after Higher Education : a European Research Survey), covering 11 European countries and Japan, we analyse the differences in early transition into the labour market, and the level and type of jobs that the graduates possess. Finally, we look whether there is a relationship, accross the different countries, between the specificity of fields in terms of types of jobs and the education requirement level of these jobs. Our results show that generally, graduates from the Nordic countries appear well prepared f…

Colloidal Nanoplatelet/Conducting Polymer Hybrids: Excitonic And Material Properties

2016

WOS:000370678700053 Here we present the first account of conductive polymer/colloidal nanoplatelet hybrids. For this, we developed DEH-PPV-based polymers with two different anchor groups (sulfide and amine) acting as surfactants for CdSe nanoplatelets, which are atomically flat semiconductor nanocrystals. Hybridization of the polymers with the nanoplatelets in the solution phase was observed to cause strong photoluminescence quenching in both materials. Through steady-state photoluminescence and excitation spectrum measurements, photoluminescence quenching was shown to result from dominant exciton dissociation through charge transfer at the polymer/nanoplatelet interfaces that possess a sta…

Direct validation of FVC, LAI and FAPAR VEGETATION/SPOT derived products using LSA SAF methodology

2007

The aim of this work is to perform a direct validation of fraction of vegetation cover (FVC), leaf area index (LAI) and fraction of absorbed photosynthetically active radiation (FAPAR) resulting products from applying the LSA SAF methodology to VEGETATION BRDF data. LSA SAF adapted algorithms were tested in adequate test sites comprising different continental biomes covering a wide range of FVC, LAI and FAPAR values. Results seem to indicate the competitiveness of LSA SAF proposed methodology to retrieve remotely sensed biophysical parameters. A noticeable good agreement regarding the ground measurements was found. The overall accuracy (RAISE) is around 20% for FVC and FAPAR and around 15% …

Integrating Domain Knowledge in Data-Driven Earth Observation With Process Convolutions

2022

The modelling of Earth observation data is a challenging problem, typically approached by either purely mechanistic or purely data-driven methods. Mechanistic models encode the domain knowledge and physical rules governing the system. Such models, however, need the correct specification of all interactions between variables in the problem and the appropriate parameterization is a challenge in itself. On the other hand, machine learning approaches are flexible data-driven tools, able to approximate arbitrarily complex functions, but lack interpretability and struggle when data is scarce or in extrapolation regimes. In this paper, we argue that hybrid learning schemes that combine both approa…

An improved Flyback converter

2009

This paper presents a modified Flyback converter able to operate with higher efficiency and smaller size, overcoming most of the conventional flyback converter drawbacks, and also keeping its low cost and simplicity. In particular, the proposed converter allows the mosfet off voltage to be reduced and clamped to the input, thus recovering the transformer leakage energy. As a consequence, the duty cycle can be extended to unity, thus reducing the voltage stress across the output rectifier, and lowering both the magnetizing inductance and the transformer bias current values. In addition, due to the auxiliary mosfet, the magnetizing current can become negative, eliminating the discontinuous co…

A demagnetization circuit for forward converters

2009

This paper presents a demagnetization circuit able to operate the forward converter with an higher efficiency and with a wider input range. In particular, by the means of few added components, the magnetizing energy and the leakage one are continuously recovered, and the transformer reset and the primary mosfet OFF voltage clamp to the input, both under steady state and transient operations, are provided. The reduced voltage stress allows the converter to operate with a duty extended to unity over the typical 70% limit of the Active Clamp topology, with smaller output inductance, better converter dynamics and wider input range. Furthermore, thanks to this technique, by employing a duty appr…
