Studium zum Vorgang der Wasserstoffübertragung, 50. Elektroreduktion und phasentransferkatalysierte Borhydrid-reduktion prochiraler Ketone

1978

On the use of reduced active space in CASSCF calculations

2014

Abstract The complete active space self-consistent field (CASSCF) method is one of the most used approaches to explore theoretically non-adiabatic photochemical processes in medium-size molecular systems. It is also frequently utilized in direct dynamics studies because this method offers a reliable description of the electronic state mixing in the regions of surface crossings (conical intersections). In this context, however, the large computational demand required to perform such on-the-fly molecular dynamics simulations using CASSCF as the electronic structure method means that only relatively small active space can be handled (typically not more than 10 electrons distributed in 10 orbit…

Tumors as elusive targets of T-cell-based active immunotherapy.

2003

The understanding of tumor-host interactions remains elusive despite significant progress in the identification of tumor antigens (TAs) recognized by autologous T cells. In particular, most human tumors do not regress and continue to grow in spite of spontaneous or immunization-induced immune responses demonstrated in circulating lymphocytes. Indeed, systemic immune responses might insufficiently address the complexity of tumor-host interactions because of factors, such as (1) the lack of productive T-cell receptor (TCR) engagement with epitope owing to qualitative and/or quantitative defects in the generation and maintenance of the immune response, (2) insufficient costimulation provided b…

The Use of Silicones as Extractants of Biologically Active Substances from Vegetable Raw Materials

2021

Based on theoretical studies, the authors of this paper propose the use of cosmetic organosilicon polymers (commonly called silicones) for the extraction of a complex of biologically active substances contained in vegetable raw materials. It is important to note that the biological molecules do not interact with the organosilicones and, therefore, their properties are not altered after the extraction. In this work, we investigate the efficiency of several polyorganosiloxanes as extractants of vegetable raw materials (Calendula Officialis L. and Artemisia Absinthium L.) useful for the preparation of cosmetic emulsions. Specifically, the extraction studies were conducted by using polyorganosi…

A New Algorithm for the Retrieval of Sun Induced Chlorophyll Fluorescence of Water Bodies Exploiting the Detailed Spectral Shape of Water-Leaving Rad…

2021

Sun induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SICF) emitted by phytoplankton provides considerable insights into the vital role of the carbon productivity of the earth’s aquatic ecosystems. However, the SICF signal leaving a water body is highly affected by the high spectral variability of its optically active constituents. To disentangle the SICF emission from the water-leaving radiance, a new high spectral resolution retrieval algorithm is presented, which significantly improves the fluorescence line height (FLH) method commonly used so far. The proposed algorithm retrieves the reflectance without SICF contribution by the extrapolation of the reflectance from the adjacent regions. Then, the SICF …

Nitrous oxide fluxes from permafrost regions

2020

This dataset is a synthesis of published nitrous oxide (N2O) fluxes from permafrost-affected soils in Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine permafrost regions. The data includes mean N2O flux rates measured under field (in situ) conditions and in intact plant-soil systems (mesocosms) under near-field conditions. The dataset further includes explanatory environmental parameters such as meteorological data, soil physical-chemical properties, as well as site and experimental information. Data has been synthesized from published studies (see 'Further details'), and in some cases the authors of published studies have been contacted for additional site-level information. The dataset includes studies publ…

nalysis, Modeling and Simulation of Mechatronic Systems using the Bond Graph Method

2011

The Bond Graph is the proper choice of physical system used for: (i) Modeling which can be applied to systems combining multidisciplinary energy domains, (ii) Analysis to provide a great value proposition for finding the algebraic loops within the system enabling the process of troubleshooting and eliminating the defects by using the proper component(s) to fix the causality conflict even without being acquainted in the proper system, and (iii) Simulation facilitated through derived state space equations from the Bond Graph model is solved using industrial simulation software, such as 20-Sim. The Bond Graph technique is a graphical language of modeling, in which component energy ports are co…

Head, chest and femur injury in teenage pedestrian–SUV crash; mass influence on the speeds

2018

This work studies the teenage pedestrian–sport utility vehicle (SUV) crash; injury to the vital parts of the body, such as the head and chest, and to the femur is evaluated. More advanced injury criteria are applied, as provided in the rules. The multibody technique is applied by making use of SimWise software and of the teenager anthropomorphic model, the use of which is now consolidated. Head injury criterion (HIC) is used for the head, thoracic trauma index (TTI) criterion for the thorax in the case of side impact and 3 ms criterion in the case of frontal impact, while the force criterion is used for the femur. Both the TTI and femur load evaluation require non-substantial modifications…

REM near-IR and optical multiband observations of PKS 2155-304 in 2005

2007

Spectral variability is the main tool for constraining emission models of BL Lac objects. By means of systematic observations of the BL Lac prototype PKS 2155-304 in the infrared-optical band, we explore variability on the scales of months, days and hours. We made our observations with the robotic 60 cm telescope REM located at La Silla, Chile. VRIJHK filters were used. PKS 2155-304 was observed from May to December 2005. The wavelength interval explored, the total number of photometric points and the short integration time render our photometry substantially superior to previous ones for this source. On the basis of the intensity and colour we distinguish three different states of the sour…

DC Bias Abatement in Dual Active Bridge Converter using Covalent Active and Passive Components

2022

The Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converter is the most attractive bidirectional DC-DC converter topology in the distribution network. However, the DC bias is the most common issue in the dual active bridge converter due to the sudden change in internal or external phase shift angles to regulate the power signal. Consequently, it will increase conduction losses, a core saturation problem of High-Frequency Transformer (HFT), and loss of Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) operation. Therefore, this paper presents the DC bias abatement in the DAB converter using covalent active and passive components to alleviate these problems. The proposed method employs the series capacitor in the windings of HFT as t…
