Immunochemical techniques are complementary tools to modern analytical requirements. These methods rely on the production of immunoreagents with adequate binding properties. In the present study, a rationally designed and functionalized derivative of pyrimethanil-a modern anilinopyrimidine fungicide-was synthesized in order to generate for the first time high-affinity and selective antibodies to this xenobiotic. Candidiasis are among the fungal infections the most difficult to diagnose and treat. Research focused on specific fungal components which are absent in the host, such as the cell wall has lead to a better understanding of Candida albicans pathogenicity and clinical impact. The cell wall is responsible for antigenic expression and primary interaction with the host. Polyclonal antibodies were raised against the purified aggregation factor (AF) from the sponge Geodia cydonium to elucidate possible immunological relationships between adhesion molecules of lower multicellular eukaryotic systems (sponges) and those of vertebrates. This anti-AF recognized a series of polypeptides associated with the AF, among them also a polypeptide with a Mr of 47,000 (p47). The formation of the antibody-p47 immunocomplexes could be prevented by adsorbing the anti-AF with a brain extract from DBA/2J mice. Identification of an Antigen Related to the Sea Urchin RNA-Binding Protein LP54 in Mammalian Central Nervous System

LP54 is an RNA-binding protein involved in localization of maternal messengers in sea urchin egg and embryos. Using a polyclonal antibody directed against Paracentrotus lividus LP54 we detected a 66-kDa cross-reacting antigen in undifferentiated and differentiated SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma cells. After treatment of undifferentiated cells with detergent, the 66-kDa antigen was found to be enriched in the cytoskeletal fraction. By Western blot the expression of this antigen was also analyzed in regions of the CNS and in tissues of the adult rat and its exclusive presence in the hippocampus and thalamus was revealed. Preclinical and clinical evidence of activity of pazopanib in solitary fibrous tumour

Abstract Background To explore the activity of pazopanib in solitary fibrous tumour (SFT). Patients and methods In a preclinical study, we compared the activity of pazopanib, sorafenib, sunitinib, regorafenib, axitinib and bevacizumab in a dedifferentiated-SFT (DSFT) xenotransplanted into Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) mice. Antiangiogenics were administered at their reported optimal doses when mean tumour volume (TV) was 80 mm3. Drug activity was assessed as TV inhibition percentage (TVI%). AbstractNative serum C1q, the collagenous-like subcomponent of the first component of complement, is not recognized by polyclonal anti-collagen type II antibodies. However, when purified C1q was subjected to limited proteolysis by collagenase it showed antigenic cross-reactivity with collagen type II. The function of the secretory core gene product (HBeAg) of the human hepatitis B virus (HBV) is unknown. It has been proposed that this protein may be passed from the mother to her offspring at the perinatal stage where it might induce immune tolerance. In a previous study we have shown that the murine placenta presents an efficient barrier for the HBe protein and that H-2(b) mice born to HBeAg-positive transgenic mothers do not develop tolerance of specific cytotoxic T cells.
