A partial micro-foundation for the ‘two-worlds’ theory of morality policymaking: Evidence from Germany

The two-worlds framework is currently the most important account of morality policymaking in Europe. For this theory of elite behaviour to be valid, a number of implicit assumptions about political belief systems at the mass level must hold. This contribution spells out these assumptions and tests them within a structural equation modelling framework, using original survey data from Germany, a country that constitutes a crucial case for the two-worlds theory. AbstractPublic policies are designed to have an impact on particular societies, yet policy-oriented computer models and simulations often focus more on articulating the policies to be applied than on realistically rendering the cultural dynamics of the target society. Applied multi-pulsed laser in surface treatment and numerical–experimental analysis

International audience; This paper presents a comparison between simulation and experimental results of the melting process of metallic material by a pulsed laser source Nd–YAG. The simulations of temperature and velocity fields of melted material were done by solving the transient heat transfer and fluid-flow equations. Variations of the thermophysical properties were considered. Furthermore, the model included the effects of the surface-tension gradient on the fluid surface and the buoyancy force. The class of F-contraction mappings with a measure of noncompactness

In this chapter we review a class of contraction conditions, which are largely used to obtain interesting generalizations of the Banach fixed-point theorem in various abstract settings. We also present a new fixed-point existence result obtained by considering such a kind of contraction condition and a measure of noncompactness. Moreover, we show the applicability of these results in the theory of functional equations.
Hardy inequalities and Assouad dimensions

We establish both sufficient and necessary conditions for weighted Hardy inequalities in metric spaces in terms of Assouad (co)dimensions. Our sufficient conditions in the case where the complement is thin are new even in Euclidean spaces, while in the case of a thick complement we give new formulations for previously known sufficient conditions which reveal a natural duality between these two cases. Our necessary conditions are rather straight-forward generalizations from the unweighted case, but together with some examples they indicate the essential sharpness of our results. In addition, we consider the mixed case where the complement may contain both thick and thin parts.

Representation Theorems for Solvable Sesquilinear Forms

New results are added to the paper [4] about q-closed and solvable sesquilinear forms. The structure of the Banach space $\mathcal{D}[||\cdot||_\Omega]$ defined on the domain $\mathcal{D}$ of a q-closed sesquilinear form $\Omega$ is unique up to isomorphism, and the adjoint of a sesquilinear form has the same property of q-closure or of solvability. The operator associated to a solvable sesquilinear form is the greatest which represents the form and it is self-adjoint if, and only if, the form is symmetric.
