Cyclic (noncyclic) phi-condensing operator and its application to a system of differential equations

We establish a best proximity pair theorem for noncyclic φ-condensing operators in strictly convex Banach spaces by using a measure of noncompactness. We also obtain a counterpart result for cyclic φ-condensing operators in Banach spaces to guarantee the existence of best proximity points, and so, an extension of Darbo’s fixed point theorem will be concluded. As an application of our results, we study the existence of a global optimal solution for a system of ordinary differential equations.
$C^{1,��}$ regularity for the normalized $p$-Poisson problem

We consider the normalized $p$-Poisson problem $$-��^N_p u=f \qquad \text{in}\quad ��.$$ The normalized $p$-Laplacian $��_p^{N}u:=|D u|^{2-p}��_p u$ is in non-divergence form and arises for example from stochastic games. We prove $C^{1,��}_{loc}$ regularity with nearly optimal $��$ for viscosity solutions of this problem. In the case $f\in L^{\infty}\cap C$ and $p>1$ we use methods both from viscosity and weak theory, whereas in the case $f\in L^q\cap C$, $q>\max(n,\frac p2,2)$, and $p>2$ we rely on the tools of nonlinear potential theory.
Green’s function and existence of solutions for a third-order three-point boundary value problem

The solutions of third-order three-point boundary value problem x‘‘‘ + f(t, x) = 0, t ∈ [a, b], x(a) = x‘(a) = 0, x(b) = kx(η), where η ∈ (a, b), k ∈ R, f ∈ C([a, b] × R, R) and f(t, 0) ≠ 0, are the subject of this investigation. In order to establish existence and uniqueness results for the solutions, attention is focused on applications of the corresponding Green’s function. As an application, also one example is given to illustrate the result. Isometrically Homogeneous and Topologically Homogeneous Continua

Based on the past study of homogeneous continua, this paper concludes that compact connected metric topological groups and isometrically homogeneous continua fall into the following three mutually disjoint classes: (1) indecomposable; (2) aposyndetic and semi-indecomposable; (3) mutually aposyndetic. Among all continua these are special classes with members having extremal properties. Indecomposable isometrically homogeneous continua are characterized as solenoids, and one-dimensional isometrically homogeneous continua are characterized as solenoids or circles. It is shown that path connected isometrically homogeneous continua are locally connected.
Efficient conversion of orbital Hall current to spin current for spin-orbit torque switching

Spin Hall effect, an electric generation of spin current, allows for efficient control of magnetization. Recent theory revealed that orbital Hall effect creates orbital current, which can be much larger than spin Hall-induced spin current. However, orbital current cannot directly exert a torque on a ferromagnet, requiring a conversion process from orbital current to spin current. Here, we report two effective methods of the conversion through spin-orbit coupling engineering, which allows us to unambiguously demonstrate orbital-current-induced spin torque, or orbital Hall torque. Quadratically Tight Relations for Randomized Query Complexity

In this work we investigate the problem of quadratically tightly approximating the randomized query complexity of Boolean functions R(f). The certificate complexity C(f) is such a complexity measure for the zero-error randomized query complexity R0(f): C(f) ≤R0(f) ≤C(f)2. In the first part of the paper we introduce a new complexity measure, expectational certificate complexity EC(f), which is also a quadratically tight bound on R0(f): EC(f) ≤R0(f) = O(EC(f)2). For R(f), we prove that EC2/3 ≤R(f). We then prove that EC(f) ≤C(f) ≤EC(f)2 and show that there is a quadratic separation between the two, thus EC(f) gives a tighter upper bound for R0(f). Sensitive magnetometry in challenging environments

State-of-the-art magnetic field measurements performed in shielded environments under carefully controlled conditions rarely reflect the realities of those applications envisioned in the introductions of peer-reviewed publications. Nevertheless, significant advances in magnetometer sensitivity have been accompanied by serious attempts to bring these magnetometers into the challenging working environments in which they are often required. This review discusses the ways in which various (predominantly optically pumped) magnetometer technologies have been adapted for use in a wide range of noisy and physically demanding environments.
Electrical readout microwave-free sensing with diamond

While nitrogen-vacancy (NV-) centers have been extensively investigated in the context of spin-based quantum technologies, the spin-state readout is conventionally performed optically, which may limit miniaturization and scalability. Here, we report photoelectric readout of ground-state cross-relaxation features, which serves as a method for measuring electron spin resonance spectra of nanoscale electronic environments and also for microwave-free sensing. As a proof of concept, by systematically tuning NV centers into resonance with the target electronic system, we extracted the spectra for the P1 electronic spin bath in diamond. A quasiconformal composition problem for the Q-spaces

Given a quasiconformal mapping $f:\mathbb R^n\to\mathbb R^n$ with $n\ge2$, we show that (un-)boundedness of the composition operator ${\bf C}_f$ on the spaces $Q_{\alpha}(\mathbb R^n)$ depends on the index $\alpha$ and the degeneracy set of the Jacobian $J_f$. We establish sharp results in terms of the index $\alpha$ and the local/global self-similar Minkowski dimension of the degeneracy set of $J_f$. This gives a solution to [Problem 8.4, 3] and also reveals a completely new phenomenon, which is totally different from the known results for Sobolev, BMO, Triebel-Lizorkin and Besov spaces.
