Representation of solutions and large-time behavior for fully nonlocal diffusion equations

2017

Abstract We study the Cauchy problem for a nonlocal heat equation, which is of fractional order both in space and time. We prove four main theorems: (i) a representation formula for classical solutions, (ii) a quantitative decay rate at which the solution tends to the fundamental solution, (iii) optimal L 2 -decay of mild solutions in all dimensions, (iv) L 2 -decay of weak solutions via energy methods. The first result relies on a delicate analysis of the definition of classical solutions. After proving the representation formula we carefully analyze the integral representation to obtain the quantitative decay rates of (ii). Next we use Fourier analysis techniques to obtain the optimal dec…

Cost-Efficient On-Chip Routing Implementations for CMP and MPSoC Systems

2011

[EN] The high-performance computing domain is enriching with the inclusion of networks-on-chip (NoCs) as a key component of many-core (CMPs or MPSoCs) architectures. NoCs face the communication scalability challenge while meeting tight power, area, and latency constraints. Designers must address new challenges that were not present before. Defective components, the enhancement of application-level parallelism, or power-aware techniques may break topology regularity, thus, efficient routing becomes a challenge. This paper presents universal logic-based distributed routing (uLBDR), an efficient logic-based mechanism that adapts to any irregular topology derived from 2-D meshes, instead of usi…

Fault-Tolerant Application-Specific Topology-Based NoC and Its Prototype on an FPGA

2021

Application-Specific Networks-on-Chips (ASNoCs) are suitable communication platforms for meeting current application requirements. Interconnection links are the primary components involved in communication between the cores of an ASNoC design. The integration density in ASNoC increases with continuous scaling down of the transistor size. Excessive integration density in ASNoC can result in the formation of thermal hotspots, which can cause a system to fail permanently. As a result, fault-tolerant techniques are required to address the permanent faults in interconnection links of an ASNoC design. By taking into account link faults in the topology, this paper introduces a fault-tolerant appli…

Bending effect on the risk for delamination at the reinforcement/matrix interface of 3D woven fabric composite using a shell-like RVE

2012

This paper presents a computational homogenisation-based technique for flexural effects in textile reinforced composite planar shells. An homogenisation procedure is used for the in-plane and the out-of-plane behaviour of three-dimensional woven composite shells, taking the in-plane periodicity of the material into account while relaxing any periodicity tying in the thickness direction. Several types of damage (matrix or reinforcement cracking, delamination, …) can appear in a composite material. In this paper, material non-linear computations are used to assess the importance of bending on the risk for delamination at the reinforcement/matrix interface. The normal and tangential stresses a…

The fixed angle scattering problem and wave equation inverse problems with two measurements

2019

We consider two formally determined inverse problems for the wave equation in more than one space dimension. Motivated by the fixed angle inverse scattering problem, we show that a compactly supported potential is uniquely determined by the far field pattern generated by plane waves coming from exactly two opposite directions. This implies that a reflection symmetric potential is uniquely determined by its fixed angle scattering data. We also prove a Lipschitz stability estimate for an associated problem. Motivated by the point source inverse problem in geophysics, we show that a compactly supported potential is uniquely determined from boundary measurements of the waves generated by exactl…

The PCHIP subdivision scheme

2016

In this paper we propose and analyze a nonlinear subdivision scheme based on the monotononicity-preserving third order Hermite-type interpolatory technique implemented in the PCHIP package in Matlab. We prove the convergence and the stability of the PCHIP nonlinear subdivision process by employing a novel technique based on the study of the generalized Jacobian of the first difference scheme. The sleep of (scientific) reason produces (literary) monsters. : or, how science and literature shake hands

2016

Electron Emission of Pt: Experimental Study and Comparison With Models in the Multipactor Energy Range

2016

Experimental data of secondary emission yield (SEY) and electron emission spectra of Pt under electron irradiation for normal incidence and primary energies lower than 1 keV are presented. Several relevant magnitudes, as total SEY, elastic backscattering probability, secondary emission spectrum, and backscattering coefficient, are given for different primary energies. These magnitudes are compared with theoretical or semiempirical formulas commonly used in the related literature.
