Context-sensitive distraction warnings : effects on drivers' visual behavior and acceptance

In this study, we investigated the effects of context-sensitive distraction warnings on drivers' in-car glance behaviors and acceptance. The studied prototype warning application functions on a smart phone. The novelty of the application is its proactive and context-sensitive approach to the adjustment of warning thresholds according to the estimated visual demands of the driving situation ahead. The contribution deals with the theme of the dry stone walls’ landscape which characterizes the rural “Koinè” of the Hyblean plateau in South-Eastern Sicily. The essay analyses the main political-economic, social-territorial, constructive and typological features which make the dry walls network the landmark of the Ragusa province. Because of the modification of the economic-cultural context that produced it, the loss of knowledge of the construction techniques and the lack of public resources, the definition of an axiology of the contemporary landscape as premise for the establishment of adequate terms of value for the safeguard of this heritage is required.

Statistical properties of general Markov dynamical sources: applications to information theory

In \textitDynamical sources in information theory: fundamental intervals and word prefixes, B. Vallée studies statistical properties of words generated by dynamical sources. This is done using generalized Ruelle operators. The aim of this article is to generalize sources for which the results hold. First, we avoid the use of Grotendieck theory and Fredholm determinants, this allows dynamical sources that cannot be extended to a complex disk or that are not analytic. Second, we consider Markov sources: the language generated by the source over an alphabet \textbfM is not necessarily \textbfM^*.

This paper is concerned with the development of an agent-based model of population behaviour during a bushfire, to form the basis of a simulator that will be used as a decision-support tool for emergency managers. To ensure the validity of the simulation results, it is essential that the model, and the underlying agent architecture, are as realistic as possible.
