International Assessment Surveys of Educational Achievement in Developing Countries : Why Education Economists Should Care

International audience; This paper reviews the most known international assessment studies that are conducted in the context of poor countries and highlights the lack of empirical evidence on the degree to which the contents of the tests really match countries' curricula. To illustrate, the paper evaluates the sensitivity of an international testing instrument by comparing the responses of students in two consecutive grades on the same battery of tests. One of the main challenges faced by physical therapy (PT) students is to learn the practical skills involved in neurological physical therapy (PT). To help them to acquire these skills, a set of rubrics were designed for formative purposes. This paper presents the process followed in the creation of these rubrics and their application in the classroom, noting that students perceived them as valid, reliable, and highly useful for learning. This qualitative study investigated the various linguistic, contextual, and experiential equivalence issues embedded in a performance-based instrument aimed at assessing generic skills in higher education. A rigorous translation and adaptation process (American English to Finnish) was conducted on one instrument, namely Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA+) International. Aim We propose a novel approach that considers taxonomic uniqueness, functional uniqueness and environmental uniqueness and show how it can be used in guiding conservation planning. Recent approaches with Value-Added Models, based on students’ results on achievement tests do not seem satisfactory. Darbā tika pētītas vārdu krājuma testēšanas paņēmienu priekšrocības un trūkumi un visefektīvākais un drošākais paņēmiens vārdu krājuma pārbaudei mācību apstākļos. Pētījuma rezultāti spēj veicināt izvēli par labu konkrētam testēšanas paņēmienam, saskaņā ar novērtēšanas veidu un mērķi, tēmu, mērķauditoriju un vidi.
