We present a new class of binary words: the prefix normal words. They are defined by the property that for any given length $k$, no factor of length $k$ has more $a$'s than the prefix of the same length. These words arise in the context of indexing for jumbled pattern matching (a.k.a. permutation matching or Parikh vector matching), where the aim is to decide whether a string has a factor with a given multiplicity of characters, i.e., with a given Parikh vector. Vortex dynamics in rotating counterflow and plane Couette and Poiseuille turbulence in superfluid Helium

An equation previously proposed to describe the evolution of vortex line density in rotating counterflow turbulent tangles in superfluid helium is generalized to incorporate nonvanishing barycentric velocity and velocity gradients. Our generalization is compared with an analogous approach proposed by Lipniacki, and with experimental results by Swanson et al. in rotating counterflow, and it is used to evaluate the vortex density in plane Couette and Poiseuille flows of superfluid helium.

The first part of the paper is centered on the phenomena of urban growth, in order to set the rules for a sustainable scenario of urban development. Then we enter the core of the paper that is the comparison of models. For each of the three compared models, we describe its main theoretical characteristics, the chosen parameters, and the obtained results. In section 6, heterogeneity of the produced results is discussed, and we highlight the points of interest and the lacks of the three models. Cet article, rédigé en 2008, présente les évolutions importantes la plateforme SpaCelle pour simuler l'évolution d'un espace à l'aide d'automate cellulaire. En particulier, la version 5 permet la structuration multi-couches des cellules pour gérer la dynamique de plusieurs variables définies sur un maillage. Elle permet aussi d'utiliser des cellules de type linéaires ou ponctuelles à travers des couches de type réseau. Les différentes couches ont leur propre dynamique et les règles peuvent faire interagir les couches entre elles.
