The Pyridyl Functional Groups Guide the Formation of Pd Nanoparticles Inside A Porous Poly(4-Vinyl-Pyridine)

The reactivity of palladium acetate inside a poly(4-vinylpyridine-co-divinylbenzene) polymer is strongly influenced by the establishment of interaction between the Pd precursor and the pyridyl functional group in the polymer. Diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) and simultaneous X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) and small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) techniques have been applied to monitor the reactivity of palladium acetate in the presence of H-2 and CO as a function of temperature. The volatile constituents of the flowers of Caralluma (Apteranthes) europaea (Guss.) N.E. Br. (Apocynaceae - Asclepiadoideae) from Lampedusa Island were analyzed by headspace method. The analyses allowed the identification and quantification of 41 compounds. The main components were, among the monoterpenoids, terpinolene (23.3%), a-terpinene (19.1%) and linalool (18.4%), whereas, among the carbonylic compounds the major constituents were heptanal (2.0%), octanoic acid (2.4%) and hexanoic acid (1.7%). Con questo contributo si è voluto ricordare che nella turbolenta Francia nel 1793 per la prima volta i beni naturali vengono ufficialmente riconosciuti anche come beni culturali facenti parte del patrimonio di un popolo, che li deve custodire e tutelare. Il tutto era scaturito dalla necessità di salvare dalla distruzione due acquasantiere costituite da 2 valve di tridacna, una conchiglia esotica, presenti nella Chiesa di S. Sulpice a Parigi. A questo importante evento partecipò attivamente anche Jean Baptiste Lamarck, Professore di Zoologia degli Insetti e dei Vermi presso il Museo Nazionale di Storia Naturale di Parigi.
