Back EMF Sensorless-Control Algorithm for High-Dynamic Performance PMSM
2010
In this paper, a low-time-consuming and low-cost sensorless-control algorithm for high-dynamic performance permanent-magnet synchronous motors, both surface and internal permanent-magnet mounted for position and speed estimation, is introduced, discussed, and experimentally validated. This control algorithm is based on the estimation of rotor speed and angular position starting from the back electromotive force space-vector determination without voltage sensors by using the reference voltages given by the current controllers instead of the actual ones. This choice obviously introduces some errors that must be vanished by means of a compensating function. The novelties of the proposed estima…
A Business-Driven Process Model for Knowledge Security Risk Management
2019
This chapter introduces a model to manage knowledge security risks in organizations. Knowledge security risk management is a process that should always be done in connection with the business benefits assessment and realization. The process model presented helps to identify knowledge security risks and provides a comprehensive approach to evaluating and balancing the costs and benefits of knowledge sharing and knowledge risk management and is discussed in light of the benefits realization process. The process model can be a valuable tool for practitioners aiming to develop knowledge sharing practices in companies, and at the same time need to consider the security of knowledge. It is also a…
Inhaled steroids and prevalence of osteoporosis in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: Data from the DACCORD cohort
2020
Introduction: Osteoporosis is a frequent COPD comorbidity with age, female gender, smoking, immobility and the use of oral steroids (OCS) as common risk factors. The role of inhaled steroids (ICS) is still under debate. Methods: Baseline data from the real life cohort DACCORD were analyzed. The diagnosis of osteoporosis was based on patients’ reports of physician-based diagnoses. Associations of ICS exposure at time of inclusion and osteoporosis were examined by group comparisons and multivariable logistic regression analyses with age, gender, smoking, exacerbation history (EH) and FEV1% as covariates. To avoid interactions with other steroid containing medications, exposure to any corticos…
The impact of lactic acid bacteria with antimicrobial properties on biodegradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and biogenic amines in cold sm…
2017
The influence of surface treatment with lactic acid bacteria (LAB), previously cultivated in an alternative substrate, on the formation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and biogenic amines (BAs) in cold smoked pork meat sausages was investigated. Moreover, sausages treatment with LAB after the smoking on PAHs content changes was evaluated. Additionally, the inhibitory effects of LAB metabolites on food spoilage bacteria was determined using the agar well diffusion assay method. The metabolites of Pediococcus acidilactici KTU05-7, Pediococcus pentosaceus KTU05-9 and Lactobacillus sakei KTU05-6 strains showed good inhibitory properties against tested pathogenic and food spoilage bac…
A phase III study of futibatinib (TAS-120) versus gemcitabine-cisplatin (gem-cis) chemotherapy as first-line (1L) treatment for patients (pts) with a…
2020
TPS600 Background: Pts with adv CCA have poor survival outcomes, and chemotherapy offers limited survival benefit (5-year survival rates, 5–10%; median overall survival [OS], 8–12 months). FGFR2 gene rearrangements are known to be early drivers of oncogenesis in ~15% of pts with intrahepatic (i) CCA. Futibatinib, an oral, highly selective, irreversible FGFR1-4 inhibitor has shown antitumor activity against a broad spectrum of FGFR-deregulated tumors in preclinical studies. In a previous study, futibatinib demonstrated clinical activity and tolerability in heavily pretreated pts with adv CCA harboring FGFR2 gene rearrangements. This phase 3 trial (FOENIX-CCA3) is designed to evaluate futiba…
BIOM-08. DNA METHYLATION-BASED SUBGROUPING PREDICTS SURVIVAL BENEFIT FROM LOMUSTINE/TEMOZOLOMID COMBINATION THERAPY IN MGMT PROMOTOR-METHYLATED GLIOB…
2021
Abstract BACKGROUND The CeTeG/NOA-09 trial showed that lomustine/temozolomide chemotherapy prolongs survival for newly diagnosed MGMT-methylated glioblastoma patients. Previous reports on temozolomide monotherapy suggested, that the survival benefit of temozolomide in MGMT-methylated tumors may be restricted to the RTK II methylation subgroup and absent in RTK I and MES subgroups. To identify patients with a particularly strong benefit from CCNU/TMZ, we explored the association of methylation subgroups with outcome after lomustine/temozolomide therapy. METHODS All patients from the CeTeG/NOA-09 trial with sufficiently available tumor tissue (n = 98) underwent 850K methylation array analysis…
Effects of resveratrol analogs on cell cycle progression, cell cycle associated proteins and 5fluoro-uracil sensitivity in human derived colon cancer…
2009
International audience; Epidemiological studies suggested that trans-resveratrol, a wine grape component, could prevent malignant tumor development. This compound also demonstrated cytostatic and cytotoxic effects on tumor cells in vitro. To obtain trans-resveratrol derivatives with a better cellular uptake and enhanced antiproliferative effects, we synthesized a triacetate derivative as well as an oligomer, epsilon-viniferin and its acetylated form, epsilon-viniferin penta-acetate. We also obtained vineatrol, a wine grape shoot extract that associates several polyphenols that may act synergistically, including trans-resveratrol and epsilon-viniferin. We show here that resveratrol triacetat…
Malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the renal capsule
1981
We report about an extremely rare case of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) of the renal capsule. The tumor is composed of fibroblast-like cells arranged in a storiform pattern and histiocyte-like cells with multinucleated giant cells, both showing no iron reaction. Characteristic of the histiocytic quality of the tumor are numerous PAS-positive intracytoplasmic droplets which can be identified as erythrophagosomes only under the electron microscope. Emphasis is put on the preoperative differential diagnosis of the tumor from renal cell carcinoma as well as on its histogenesis and prognosis.
Cancer and Pregnancy: A Comprehensive Review
2021
Simple Summary The co-occurrence of cancer and pregnancy is fortunately a rare event. It is a challenging situation for all involved parties, as the risks and benefits of oncological treatments should be balanced for both the mother and the offspring. This work offers guidance to clinicians regarding the choice of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as well as regarding the management of the pregnancy. Abstract Cancer diagnosis and treatment in pregnant women is a challenging situation. A multidisciplinary network of specialists is required to guide both, the expecting mother and the unborn child through the diagnostic workup and the cytotoxic therapy, by balancing the respective risks a…
