Water browning or brownification refers to increasing water color, often related to increasing dissolved organic matter (DOM) and carbon (DOC) content in freshwaters. Browning has been recognized as a significant physicochemical phenomenon altering boreal lakes, but our understanding of its ecological consequences in different freshwater habitats and regions is limited. Here, we review the consequences of browning on different freshwater habitats, food webs and aquatic-terrestrial habitat coupling. Abstract Peach genotypes in Southern Italy include the white-flesh ‘Pesca di Bivona’ (‘Murtiddara’, ‘Bianca’, ‘Agostina’ and ‘Settembrina’) and the yellow-flesh ‘Pesca di Leonforte’ (‘Settembrina’, ‘Giallone’ and ‘Ottobrina’ ) landraces, with non-melting clingstone fruit, characterized by a persistent aroma and an excellent flavor that is highly appreciated by consumers. Alternaria brown spot, caused by Alternaria alternata, is the most important disease of tangerines and their hybrids worldwide, including Italy. The disease represents, for some susceptible citrus cultivar, a limiting factor in profitable cultivation. One of the best example of coevolutionaru adaptations is that of the interactions between avian brood parasites and their hosts. Brood parasites lay their eggs in nests of other specieis and leave the job of caring for their young with the hosts. Hosts of brood parasites tend to suffer high reproductive costs as often they raise few of no young of their own, an effect of being parasitizes. For this reason, many hosts have evolved strategies that reduces the cost of parasitism.
Deuteron n.m.r. in relation to the glass transition in polymers

Abstract 2H n.m.r. is introduced as a tool for investigating slow molecular motion in the glass transition region of amorphous polymers. In particular, we compare 2H spin alignment echo spectra of chain deuterated polystyrene with models for restricted rotational Brownian motion. Molecular motion in the polystyrene-toluene system has been investigated by analysing 2H n.m.r. of partially deuterated polystyrene and toluene, respectively. The diluent mobility in the mixed glass has been decomposed into ‘solid’ and ‘liquid’ components where the respective average correlation times differ by more than 5 decades.
