Density-based Algorithm and Network Analysis for GPS Data

2019

Identification of points of attraction and network analysis for GPS tracking data

2019

Global positional system data provide accurate information on units’ movements from both the temporal and the spatial perspective. Several aspects of these movements can be analyzed according to the aim of interest. In this study, we focus on statistical methods for the identification of points of interest and for the analysis of the network of movements for GPS data. A density-based cluster algorithm is applied to summarize the vast amount of information and to find the most relevant points of attraction. A directed network synthesizes the individual unit’s path by using the latter information. Finally, we aggregate the units’ paths in a weighted directed network which is studied through n…

Studies of CoxMg1-xO Solid Solutions Using Laboratory EXAFS-Spectrometer

1993

Studies of the local electronic structure and the short-range order in solid solutions Co x Mg1-x O with x equal from 0.02 to 1.00 have been carried out on the Co K-edge X-ray absorption spectra measured using the laboratory EXAFS-spectrometer. A non-monotonous change of the Co-O distance in the first coordination shell with the bent at x=0.5 has been established. The second coordination shell of cobalt has been formed by cobalt and magnesium atoms with a distribution close to statistical.

Tryptophan promotes morphological and physiological differentiation in Streptomyces coelicolor.

2015

The molecular mechanisms regulating tryptophan biosynthesis in actinomycetes are poorly understood; similarly, the possible roles of tryptophan in the differentiation program of microorganism life-cycle are still underexplored. To unveil the possible regulatory effect of this amino acid on gene expression, an integrated study based on quantitative teverse transcription-PCR (qRT-PCR) and proteomic approaches was performed on the actinomycete model Streptomyces coelicolor. Comparative analyses on the microorganism growth in a minimal medium with or without tryptophan supplementation showed that biosynthetic trp gene expression in S. coelicolor is not subjected to a negative regulation by the …

Quantum Machine Learning: A tutorial

2021

This tutorial provides an overview of Quantum Machine Learning (QML), a relatively novel discipline that brings together concepts from Machine Learning (ML), Quantum Computing (QC) and Quantum Information (QI). The great development experienced by QC, partly due to the involvement of giant technological companies as well as the popularity and success of ML have been responsible of making QML one of the main streams for researchers working on fuzzy borders between Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science. A possible, although arguably coarse, classification of QML methods may be based on those approaches that make use of ML in a quantum experimentation environment and those others that take…

Biosilica formation in spicules of the sponge Suberites domuncula: synchronous expression of a gene cluster.

2005

The formation of spicules is a complicated morphogenetic process in sponges (phylum Porifera). The primmorph system was used to demonstrate that in the demosponge Suberites domuncula the synthesis of the siliceous spicules starts intracellularly and is dependent on the concentration of silicic acid. To understand spicule formation, a cluster of genes was isolated. In the center of this cluster is the silicatein gene, which codes for the enzyme that synthesizes spicules. This gene is flanked by an ankyrin repeat gene at one side and by a tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor and a protein kinase gene at the other side. All genes are strongly expressed in primmorphs and intact anim…

Adsorbates on thin iron(100) films

1995

The electronic and magnetic properties of different kinds of adsorbates on thin magnetized Fe(100) films have been investigated by means of spin resolving photoelectron spectroscopy. The study has been carried out with atomically physisorbed xenon, the molecule carbon monoxide, and metallic gold. The spin splitting of the Xe 5p signal can be explained by magnetic interactions with the final ionic hole state. By spin analysis, it could be shown that at room temperature for low exposures the adsorption of CO is dissociative and with increasing exposure additionally molecular. The Au related features for the monolayer show different line shapes in both spin channels but no splittings due to an…

Binding Sites, Vibrations and Spin-Lattice Relaxation Times in Europium(II)-Based Metallofullerene Spin Qubits.

2021

Abstract To design molecular spin qubits with enhanced quantum coherence, a control of the coupling between the local vibrations and the spin states is crucial, which could be realized in principle by engineering molecular structures via coordination chemistry. To this end, understanding the underlying structural factors that govern the spin relaxation is a central topic. Here, we report the investigation of the spin dynamics in a series of chemically designed europium(II)‐based endohedral metallofullerenes (EMFs). By introducing a unique structural difference, i. e. metal‐cage binding site, while keeping other molecular parameters constant between different complexes, these manifest the ke…
