Background The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of coronavirus disease 19 (Covid-19) on the oral cavity by evaluating the oral findings in the patients who recovered after treatment. Material and Methods This study involved confirmed Covid-19 patients whose treatment completed at least two weeks ago. Cholesteatoma of the hypotympanum in a patient with Treacher Collins syndrome

In the present article we report a cholesteatoma of the hypotympanum extending to the jugular foramen in a 16-year-old male with Treacher Collins syndrome. Preoperative imaging excluded jugular paraganglioma and set the diagnosis of cholesteatoma. We discuss the operative treatment via a large hypotympanotomy and creation of an open hypotympanic cavity. To the authors' knowledge this is the first description of hypotympanal cholesteatoma with such an extension, being treated through this approach.

Ipsilateral facial weakness in upper medullary infarction-supranuclear or infranuclear origin?

We describe two patients with upper medullary infarctions showing ipsilateral facial weakness and relative sparing of the upper facial muscles. Electrophysiological follow-up using transcranial magnetic stimulation of the motor cortex in combination with stimulation of the peripheral facial nerve disclosed a supranuclear (corticofacial) tract lesion in one patient and a partial nuclear/infranuclear intra-axial facial nerve lesion in another.

Unreamed interlocked humeral nailing for stabilisation of acute humeral fractures was introduced a decade ago. Antegrade and retrograde nail insertion are equally popular. The role of nailing as opposed to plating of humeral fractures is the subject of continuous debate. Between 1997 and 2005, 99 acute fractures of the humeral shaft were treated operatively with the unreamed humeral nail (UHN, Synthes) in our Level I Trauma Centre. The mean age of the patients was 63 years. Only eight patients (8.1%) were polytraumatised, nine patients had an open fracture (9.1%), five had a primary radial nerve palsy (5.1%). Sex differences in renal damage induced in the mouse by Amanita virosa.

Summary The sensitivity of male and female mice to Amanita virosa was compared. Dried, homogenizedmushroom was given orally by stomach tubing at doses of 100, 200, 400 and 800 mg dried mushroom/kg body weight. Both in males and in females, the kidneys were the only organs showing macroscopical changes. The dose of 100 mg/kg caused renal damage in females, whereas in males the first signs of kidney damage were seen at the dose of 400 mg/kg. The renal lesions observed in the males were located in the cortex, while in the females they were limited to the outer stripe of the outer medullary zone. Versatility of nasolabial flaps in oral cavity reconstructions

Objectives: Describe the techniques involved and the results obtained witn nasolabial flaps in small and medium- sized defects of the oral cavity. The procedure is an easy resconstructive option with a high success rate and with very good aesthetic and functional outcomes. Study Design: A retrospective analysis of 16 nasolabial flap reconstructions in 15 oncological patients with oral cavity defects undergoing single-stage surgical interventions. We evaluate the tumor type, its location, size, the resective and reconstructive techniques involved, as well as any complications.
