Many of the areas that generate organic waste that could be biotreated are inaccessible for collection because of the lack of accessible roads, poverty of the residents and general neglect of such places by the government authorities. In Lagos in 1999 it was observed that trucks collecting wastes cannot get into 40% of the inner part of the municipalities because the roads are too narrow or blocked by illegal structures. So one-third of the population received no refuse collection service. There is very little knowledge about the treatment of biowaste and the activities are very low. Transnationalism and Settlement of Latvian Emigrants in the Nordic Countries

The intra-European migration flows have fostered debates about the intentions of migrants to settle in their destination country or return to their countries of origin. Based on a quantitative analysis of survey data ('N' = 1391), this article presents a typology of migration patterns among migrants from Latvia in the Nordic countries. Using two dimensions—attachment to the destination country and attachment to the country of origin—the article identifies and characterises the following four migration patterns: (1) bi-nationals, (2) settlers, (3) footloose migrants and (4) isolated migrants who focus on their country of origin and are willing to return (separated).

A pilot study was conducted in which 6 students with L1 German had to produce a German version of a text they had composed in their L2 English. The goals were to explore (a) in what respects the ability of advanced university English students to express themselves in their L2 English differs from their ability to do so in their L1 German, and (b) for which aspects of writing the implementation of translation exercises is useful as a tool to improve writing skills.
