The PANDA Barrel DIRC
2016
The PANDA detector at the international accelerator Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe (FAIR) addresses fundamental questions of hadron physics. Experiments concerning charmonium spectroscopy, the search for hybrids and glueballs and the interaction of hidden and open charm particles with nucleons and nuclei will be performed with antiproton beams impinging on hydrogen or nuclear targets. Cooled beams allow the precision scan of resonances in formation experiments. The momentum range of the antiproton beam between 1.5 GeV/c and 15 GeV/c tests predictions by perturbation theory and will reveal deviations originating from strong QCD . An excellent hadronic particle identificat…
Search for new phenomena in the WW→lνl′ν′ final state in pp collisions at s=7TeV with the ATLAS detector
2013
This Letter reports a search for a heavy particle that decays to WW using events produced in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV. The data were recorded in 2011 by the ATLAS detector and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb(-1). WW -> lvl'v' (l,l' = e or mu) final states are considered and the distribution of the transverse mass of the W W candidates is found to be consistent with Standard Model expectations. Upper limits on the production cross section times branching ratio into W boson pairs are set for Randall-Sundrum and bulk Randall-Sundrum gravitons, which result in observed 95% CL lower limits on the masses of the two particles of 1.23 TeV and 0.84 TeV, respectively.
Search for Dilepton Resonances inppCollisions ats=7 TeVwith the ATLAS Detector
2011
This Letter reports on a search for narrow high-mass resonances decaying into dilepton final states. The data were recorded by the ATLAS experiment in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 1.08 (1.21) fb(-1) in the e(+)e(-) (mu(+)mu(-)) channel. No statistically significant excess above the standard model expectation is observed and upper limits are set at the 95% C. L. on the cross section times branching fraction of Z' resonances and Randall-Sundrum gravitons decaying into dileptons as a function of the resonance mass. A lower mass limit of 1.83 TeV on the sequential standard model Z' boson is set. A Randall-Sundrum…
Overview of HVCMOS pixel sensors
2015
High voltage CMOS (HVCMOS) sensors are presently considered for the use in Mu3e experiment, ATLAS and CLIC. These sensors can be implemented in commercial HVCMOS processes. HVCMOS sensors feature fast charge collection by drift and high radiation tolerance. The sensor element is an n-well/p-type diode. This proceeding-paper gives an overview of HVCMOS projects and the recent results.
Top quark tensor couplings
2011
We compute the real and imaginary parts of the one-loop electroweak contributions to the left and right tensorial anomalous couplings of the $tbW$ vertex in the Standard Model (SM). For both tensorial couplings we find that the real part of the electroweak SM correction is close to 10$%$ of the leading contribution given by the QCD gluon exchange. We also find that the electroweak real and imaginary parts for the anomalous right coupling are almost of the same order of magnitude. The one loop SM prediction for the real part of the left coupling is close to the 3$\sigma$ discovery limit derived from $b\rightarrow s \gamma$. Besides, taking into account that the predictions of new physics int…
Observation of a NewχbState in Radiative Transitions toΥ(1S)andΥ(2S)at ATLAS
2012
The χb(nP) quarkonium states are produced in proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider at √s=7 TeV and recorded by the ATLAS detector. Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.4 fb-1, these states are reconstructed through their radiative decays to Υ(1S,2S) with Υ→μ+μ-. In addition to the mass peaks corresponding to the decay modes χb(1P,2P)→Υ(1S)γ, a new structure centered at a mass of 10.530±0.005(stat)±0.009(syst) GeV is also observed, in both the Υ(1S)γ and Υ(2S)γ decay modes. This structure is interpreted as the χb(3P) system.
Soft-virtual corrections to Higgs production atN3LO
2015
The authors compute certain (soft-virtual) corrections to the Higgs boson production in the gluon-gluon fusion at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD. Such higher loop calculations are essential for comparing the theoretical predictions with the experimental results of the Higgs boson production at LHC.
Constraints on jet quenching in p–Pb collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV measured by the event-activity dependence of semi-inclusive hadron-jet distributions
2018
The ALICE Collaboration reports the measurement of semi-inclusive distributions of charged-particle jets recoiling from a high-transverse momentum trigger hadron in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV. Jets are reconstructed from charged-particle tracks using the anti-kT algorithm with resolution parameter R = 0.2 and 0.4. A data-driven statistical approach is used to correct the uncorrelated background jet yield. Recoil jet distributions are reported for jet transverse momentum 15 < pch T,jet < 50 GeV/c and are compared in various intervals of p–Pb event activity, based on charged-particle multiplicity and zero-degree neutral energy in the forward (Pb-going) direction. The semi-inclusive ob…
Multiplicity dependence of inclusive J/ψ production at midrapidity in pp collisions at s=13 TeV
2020
Measurements of the inclusive J/ψ yield as a function of charged-particle pseudorapidity density dNch/dη in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV with ALICE at the LHC are reported. The J/ψ meson yield is measured at midrapidity (|y| < 0.9) in the dielectron channel, for events selected based on the charged-particle multiplicity at midrapidity (|η| < 1) and at forward rapidity (−3.7 < η < −1.7 and 2.8 < η < 5.1); both observables are normalized to their corresponding averages in minimum bias events. The increase of the normalized J/ψ yield with normalized dNch/dη is significantly stronger than linear and dependent on the transverse momentum. The data are compared to theoretical predictions, which de…
Global baryon number conservation encoded in net-proton fluctuations measured in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV
2020
Experimental results are presented on event-by-event net-proton fluctuation measurements in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV, recorded by the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. These measurements have as their ultimate goal an experimental test of Lattice QCD (LQCD) predictions on second and higher order cumulants of net-baryon distributions to search for critical behavior near the QCD phase boundary. Before confronting them with LQCD predictions, account has to be taken of correlations stemming from baryon number conservation as well as fluctuations of participating nucleons. Both effects influence the experimental measurements and are usually not considered in theoretical calculations. For t…
