Monitoring of fracture calluses with color Doppler sonography.

Purpose Fracture callus formation is closely associated with vascular invasion, and the use of color Doppler sonography has been suggested as a means to monitor, earlier than gray-scale sonography, the first stages of the healing process. We report the findings in a series of patients with tibial fractures in whom both gray-scale sonography and color Doppler imaging were employed to monitor new bone formation at the fracture site. Methods Twenty patients with tibial fractures treated with external fixator frames were examined sonographically about 10 days after surgery and then about every 25 days until radiographic demonstration of consolidation. This paper describes an automatic technique able to fuse different images of the same scene, acquired with different camera settings, in order to obtain an enhanced single representation of the interested. This allows to extend the functionalities (depth of field, dynamic range) of medium and low cost digital cameras. When Multi-Scale Decomposition (MSD) is used on differently focused images, magnification and blurring effects of lens focusing systems often compromise the final image with unpleasant artifacts. This work describes an automatic technique able to fuse different images of the same scene, acquired at different settings, in order to obtain an enhanced single representation of the scene of interest by an improved picture fusion scheme. This allows the extending of the functionalities (depth of field, dynamic range) of medium and low cost digital cameras. The work described in this report has as a target the mixed reality device ray-on, developed by the on-situ company. This device, dedicated to cultural heritage and specifically architectural heritage, is meant to be installed on-site and shows the user an uchronic view of its surroundings. A terpyridine ruthenium (II) complex containing a substituted and an unsubstituted terpyridine ligand was synthesized, and its luminescence properties were studied in a solid-state single-layer light-emitting electrochemical cell. The obtained devices emitted light of a very deep red color (CIE, x = 0.717 y = 0.282) at low external applied bias. It is the first example of an electroluminescence device based on a bis-chelated ruthenium complex. Its ambient atmosphere decay is remarkably different from analogous devices using tris-chelated ruthenium complexes.
