A New Comorbidity in Periodontitis: Fusobacterium nucleatum and Colorectal Cancer

There is very recent and strong evidence relating Fusobacterium nucleatum to colorectal cancer. In this narrative review, we update the knowledge about gingival dysbiosis and the characteristics of Fusobacterium nucleatum as one of the main bacteria related to periodontitis. We provide data on microbiome, epidemiology, risk factors, prognosis, and treatment of colorectal cancer, one of the most frequent tumours diagnosed and whose incidence increases every year. Colorectal cancer (CRC) as one the most common cancer type is associated with oxidative stress. Surgery is the only curative modality for early-stage CRC. The aim of this study was to evaluate the oxidative damage biomarkers as well as enzymatic and nonenzymatic antioxidants in patients with CRC before and after tumor resection and in healthy controls. 60 patients with stage I/II colorectal adenocarcinoma and 43 healthy controls were recruited in this study. El objetivo del estudio consiste en determinar, a través de un análisis de contenido, si la colección de libros para dibujar <em>“Doodle para niñas”</em> y <em>“Doodle para niños”</em> representa roles estereotipados de género en sus imágenes y en el texto escrito.
