Efficient Power Allocation for Multi-Cell Uplink NOMA Network

2019

Digital technologies are rapidly shaping the modern concepts of urbanization. It is a key element of developing practical smart cities of the future. In fact, they are the catalyst for the increasing networking of all areas of life in a smart city. Recent development in the domain of communication technologies has opened new avenues to realize the concept of smart cities. One of such communication technology is non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) for future cellular communications. This article, therefore, focuses on the interference management of uplink cellular NOMA systems. Specifically, we propose a power optimization technique for NOMA to improve the sum-rate in a multi-cell environm…

Transmission Optimization and Resource Allocation for Wireless Powered Dense Vehicle Area Network With Energy Recycling

2022

The wireless-powered communication paradigm brings self-sustainability to the on-vehicle sensors by harvesting the energy from radiated radio frequency (RF) signals. This paper proposes a novel transmission and resource allocation strategy for the scenario where multiple wireless powered vehicle area networks (VAN) co-existed with high density. The considered multi-VAN system consists of a remote master access point (MAP), multiple on-vehicle hybrid access points (HAPs) and sensors. Unlike previous works, we consider that the sensors can recycle the radiated radio frequency energy from all the HAPs when HAPs communicate with MAP, so the dedicated signals for energy harvesting (EH) are unnec…

An Energy-Autonomous Wireless Sensor with Simultaneous Energy Harvesting and Ambient Light Sensing

2021

Wireless sensor nodes (WSNs) are generally powered by batteries, which results in a substantial limitation to the places where the nodes can be installed, to the maximum number of deployable devices, and to the node lifetime. To meet the demand for Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications that require a large number of maintenance-free, low cost, wireless sensor nodes, this paper proposes a wireless sensor platform with a single photovoltaic transducer that performs the dual role of harvesting energy and sensing ambient light. This dual use allows even smaller and cheaper nodes that do not require any form of supporting external power, with a reduced component count. The device implements off-…

Maximum Lifetime Problem in Sensor Networks with Limited Channel Capacity

2016

We analyze the maximum lifetime problem in sensor networks with limited channel capacity for multipoint-to-multipoint and broadcast data transmission services. For the transmission model in which the transmitter adjust the power of its radio signal to the distance to the receiver we propose a new Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio function and use it to modify the Shannon-Hartley channel capacity formula. We show, that in order to achieve an optimal data transmission regarding considered the maximum lifetime problem we cannot allow for any interference of signals. For considered transmission model and the modified capacity formula we solve the maximum lifetime problem in one dimensiona…

La politisation de l'ordinaire : Enjeux et limites de la mobilisation numérique

2015

This article examines the politicization processes of ordinary digital practices as well as its role in the constitution of new protester groups. Its interest is also represented by the construction of an original theoretical framework aiming to underline the complementarity between different theoretical perspectives. By encouraging a connection between the sociology of social movements, the critical Theory and the studies of “information practices”, the author elaborates a new approach to mobilisation focused on the emergence of a more and more citizen's engaged position with regard to the “information world” and not only based on militant uses of the media. While claiming a critical appro…

The level of context dependence of engagement markers in Peninsular Spanish and US business websites

2019

This paper examines the impact of Spaniards’ and North-Americans’ level of context dependence (Hall, 1976) on the engagement markers (Hyland & Tse, 2004) used on the presentation page of 100 business websites from the toy sector (50 from Spain and 50 from the US). Following an observational and a quantitative analysis, the findings reveal remarkable statistical differences in the interactional discourse of this digital genre, which may be a valuable source of information for export companies to introduce their products abroad by means of their business websites. In addition, we believe that the business website can be used in the teaching and learning of Spanish and English for professional…

MiR-33a Controls hMSCS Osteoblast Commitment Modulating the Yap/Taz Expression Through EGFR Signaling Regulation

2019

Mesenchymal stromal cells (hMSCs) display a pleiotropic function in bone regeneration. The signaling involved in osteoblast commitment is still not completely understood, and that determines the failure of current therapies being used. In our recent studies, we identified two miRNAs as regulators of hMSCs osteoblast differentiation driving hypoxia signaling and cytoskeletal reorganization. Other signalings involved in this process are epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signalings through the regulation of Yes-associated protein (YAP)/PDZ-binding motif (TAZ) expression. In the current study, we investigated the role of miR-33a family as a (…
