Singular Neumann (p, q)-equations

We consider a nonlinear parametric Neumann problem driven by the sum of a p-Laplacian and of a q-Laplacian and exhibiting in the reaction the competing effects of a singular term and of a resonant term. Using variational methods together with suitable truncation and comparison techniques, we show that for small values of the parameter the problem has at least two positive smooth solutions.

The origin of lecithodesmus (Digenea: Campulidae) based on ND3 gene comparison

Species of Lecithodesmus (Campulidae) occur almost exclusively in baleen whales throughout a wide geographical distribution. Other campulids occur only in odontocetes and, secondarily, in pinnipeds and the sea otter. Therefore, the ancestor of Lecithodesmus might have either cospeciated with mysticetes during the early divergence of mysticete and odontocete cetaceans or originated later via host switching. We evaluate both possibilities based on a phylogenetic analysis. The ND3 mitochondrial gene sequence of a species of Lecithodesmus was included in a previous partial molecular phylogeny of the Campulidae. [CA] El present article es centra en la vinculació entre els diversos exemplars de Crist portacreu de Gianfrancesco Maineri i els homònims de Paolo da San Leocadio. A través de diverses comparacions, tractarà d¿explicar-se la gènesi d¿aquest model, aportant, a més, dades que permetran una millor classificació dels exemplars leocadians. Finalment, es realitzen una sèrie de reflexions entorn de l¿hipotètic retorn de San Leocadio a Itàlia (1485-1489) i a la seua possible vinculació amb Maineri.

The use of positively valued adjectives and adverbs in Polish and Estonian casual conversations

Abstract In this paper cultural differences between Polish and Estonian conversational strategies are analysed in respect of how the evaluative words are used and what their degree of deliberateness is. The study compares the usage of adjectives and adverbs with positive value in the excerpts from Polish and Estonian corpora of casual conversation. The quantitative and qualitative comparison demonstrates that their overall frequency and the pragmatic functions are very similar. The differences of the conversational styles lay in greater accumulation and intensification of the evaluatives in the Polish conversations and in the tendency to externalize the positive affect in the Estonian ones.…
