A geometrical framework for f –statistics

AbstractA detailed derivation of the f–statistics formalism is made from a geometrical framework. It is shown that the f–statistics appear when a genetic distance matrix is constrained to describe a four population phylogenetic tree. The choice of genetic metric is crucial and plays an outstanding role as regards the tree–like–ness criterion. The case of lack of treeness is interpreted in the formalism as presence of population admixture. In this respect, four formulas are given to estimate the admixture proportions. This has led to a growing interest in research-based knowledge. Updating an earlier article, we undertake a systematic literature review of guidance research in the Nordic countries during this 15-year period. Features and themes, both country-specific and in the region as a whole, are revealed through the analysis of a variety of research documents. Artykuł jest próbą interpretacji dzieł Mikołaja Reja i Marcina Bielskiego w kategoriach encyklopedycznego teatru. Taka konstrukcja stanowi odwzorowanie obrazu ówczesnego świata. THE EFFECTS OF PEOPLES’ HEIGHT AND RELATIVE HEIGHT ON WELL-BEING

Using a rich Italian survey, we investigate the effect of height on individual happiness. From our analysis it emerges that a large part of the effect of height on well-being is driven by a positive correlation between height and economic and health conditions. However, for young males the effect of height on happiness persists even after controlling for these variables, implying that height may produce some psycho-social direct effects on well-being. Consistent with this hypothesis, we find that males care not only about their own height but also about the height of people in their reference group. Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot kādas saistības pastāv starp iejūtību pret sevi un tendenci salīdzināties, kā arī starp iejūtību pret sevi un to, kā indivīds sevi novērtē salīdzinājumā ar citiem. Pētījumā piedalījās 106 respondenti – 16 vīrieši un 90 sievietes (vidējais vecums – 34,25 gadi). Tika izmantotas trīs aptaujas – Aiovas-Nīderlandes salīdzināšanas tendences skala, Sociālās salīdzināšanas skala un Iejūtības pret sevi skala. Intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) contain regions lacking intrinsic globular structure (intrinsically disordered regions, IDRs). IDPs are present across the tree of life, with great variability of IDR type and frequency even between closely related taxa. To investigate the function of IDRs, we evaluated and compared the distribution of disorder content in 10,695 reference proteomes, confirming its high variability and finding certain correlation along the Euteleostomi (bony vertebrates) lineage to number of cell types. Of particular interest in recent research is the role of mindfulness, defined as the ability to focus on the present moment, and how it can impact cognitive function and productivity. This study examines the relationship between scholastic achievement and mindfulness among university students in China, Finland, Germany, South Africa, and the United States.
