Satellite survey of seasonal trophic status and occasional anoxic 'malaigue' crises in the Thau lagoon using MERIS images
2011
International audience; The Thau lagoon, located in southern France, suffers episodically from anoxic crises locally known as 'malaigue'. Such crises mostly occur under warm conditions, low winds leading to a strong eutrophication of the lagoon. The development of a sulphur bacterium sometimes gives locally to the waters a 'milky turquoise' appearance and leads to shellfish mortality. One of the indicators of the eutrophication status of the lagoon can be surveyed by the chlorophyll product provided by remote sensing images such as Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS). In this paper we compare chl2 (or algal2) estimations provided by MERIS level 2 products and the ground measureme…
GenExP, un logiciel simulateur de paysages agricoles pour l'étude de la diffusion de transgènes
2007
; The software GENEXP allows to simulate 2-dimensional agricultural landscapes by using a traditional algorithmic geometry. Based on real or realistic field-patterns, GENEXP provides multiannual maps of agricultural landscapes, which are used by softwares simulating the dispersal of GM pollen grains and seeds at various scales.; GENEXP est un simulateur de paysages agricoles qui engendre des découpages parcellaires en utilisant une géométrie algorithmique classique. GENEXP fournit, sur la base de parcellaires réels ou réalistes, des cartes pluriannuelles de paysages agricoles utilisables par des logiciels qui simulent la dispersion des pollens et des graines d'OGM à différentes échelles.
Medium-size droplets of methyl ricinoleate are reduced by cell-surface activity in the gamma-decalactone production by Yarrowia lipolytica.
2000
International audience; Size of methyl ricinoleate droplets during biotransformation into gamma-decalactone by Yarrowia lipolytica was measured in both homogenized and non-homogenized media. In non-homogenized but shaken medium, droplets had an average volume surface diameter d32 of 2.5 microm whereas it was 0.7 microm in homogenized and shaken medium. But as soon as yeast cells were inoculated, both diameters became similar at about 0.7 microm and did not vary significantly until the end of the culture. The growth of Y. lipolytica in both media was very similar except for the lag phase which was lowered in homogenized medium conditions.
A segmentation algorithm for noisy images
2005
International audience; This paper presents a segmentation algorithm for gray-level images and addresses issues related to its performance on noisy images. It formulates an image segmentation problem as a partition of a weighted image neighborhood hypergraph. To overcome the computational difficulty of directly solving this problem, a multilevel hypergraph partitioning has been used. To evaluate the algorithm, we have studied how noise affects the performance of the algorithm. The alpha-stable noise is considered and its effects on the algorithm are studied. Key words : graph, hypergraph, neighborhood hypergraph, multilevel hypergraph partitioning, image segmentation and noise removal.
Experimental trade-offs between different strategies for multihop communications evaluated over real deployments of wireless sensor network for envir…
2018
Although much work has been done since wireless sensor networks appeared, there is not a great deal of information available on real deployments that incorporate basic features associated with these networks, in particular multihop routing and long lifetimes features. In this article, an environmental monitoring application (Internet of Things oriented) is described, where temperature and relative humidity samples are taken by each mote at a rate of 2 samples/min and sent to a sink using multihop routing. Our goal is to analyse the different strategies to gather the information from the different motes in this context. The trade-offs between ‘sending always’ and ‘buffering locally’ approac…
Bit-parallel approximate pattern matching: Kepler GPU versus Xeon Phi
2016
Advanced SIMD features on GPUs and Xeon Phis promote efficient long pattern search.A tiled approach to accelerating the Wu-Manber algorithm on GPUs has been proposed. Both the GPU and Xeon Phi yield two orders-of-magnitude speedup over one CPU core. The GPU-based version with tiling runs up to 2.9 × faster than the Xeon Phi version. Approximate pattern matching (APM) targets to find the occurrences of a pattern inside a subject text allowing a limited number of errors. It has been widely used in many application areas such as bioinformatics and information retrieval. Bit-parallel APM takes advantage of the intrinsic parallelism of bitwise operations inside a machine word. This approach typica…
Usability and acceptability assessment of an empathic virtual agent to prevent major depression
2016
In Human-Computer Interaction, the adaptation of the content and the way of how this content is communicated to the users in interactive sessions is a critical issue to promote the acceptability and usability of any computational system. We present a user-adapted interactive platform to identify and provide an early intervention for symptoms of depression and suicide. In particular, we describe the work performed to assess users' system acceptability and usability. An empathic Virtual Agent is the main interface with the user, and it has been designed to generate the appropriate dialogues and emotions during the interactions according to the detected user's specific needs. This personalizat…
Robust Network Agreement on Logical Information
2011
Abstract Logical consensus is an approach to distributed decision making which is based on the availability of a network of agents with incomplete system knowledge. The method requires the construction of a Boolean map which defines a dynamic system allowing the entire network to consent on a unique, global decision. Previous work by the authors proved the method to be viable for applications such as intrusion detection within a structured environment, when the agent's communication topology is known in advance. The current work aims at providing a fully distributed protocol, requiring no a priori knowledge of each agent's communication neighbors. The protocol allows the construction of a r…
TOWARDS SMART MANUFACTURING WITH VIRTUAL FACTORY AND DATA ANALYTICS
2017
International audience; Virtual factory models can help improve manufacturing decision making when augmented with data analytics applications. Virtual factory models provide the capability of simulating real factories and generating realistic data streams at the desired level of resolution. Deeper insights can be gained and underlying relationships quantified by channeling the simulation output data to an external analytics tool. This paper describes integration of a virtual factory prototype with a neural network analytics application. The combined capability is used to create a neural network capable of predicting the expected cycle times for a small job shop. The capability can adapt by …
Large multiple neighborhood search for the soft-clustered vehicle-routing problem
2021
Abstract The soft-clustered vehicle-routing problem (SoftCluVRP) is a variant of the classical capacitated vehicle-routing problem. Customers are partitioned into clusters and all customers of the same cluster must be served by the same vehicle. In this paper, we present a large multiple neighborhood search for the SoftCluVRP. We design and analyze multiple cluster destroy and repair operators as well as two post-optimization components, which are both based on variable neighborhood descent. The first allows inter-route exchanges of complete clusters, while the second searches for intra-route improvements by combining classical neighborhoods (2-opt, Or-opt, double-bridge) and the Balas-Simo…
