Patient-Specific Rehearsal Feasibility Before Endovascular Repair of Ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm.

Purpose: To evaluate the feasibility of a patient-specific rehearsal (PsR) before emergency endovascular aneurysm repairs (eEVAR) and its influence on the operation. Materials and Methods: From February 2016 to October 2016, 10 consecutive patients (mean age 75 +/- 7.4 years; 9 men) presenting with a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (rAAA) suitable for standard EVAR were enrolled in the study. Spectral clustering of shape and probability prior models for automatic prostate segmentation.

Imaging artifacts in Transrectal Ultrasound (TRUS) images and inter-patient variations in prostate shape and size challenge computer-aided automatic or semi-automatic segmentation of the prostate. In this paper, we propose to use multiple mean parametric models derived from principal component analysis (PCA) of shape and posterior probability information to segment the prostate. Analysis of synaptic bodies in the Sprague–Dawley rat pineal gland under extreme photoperiods

Synaptic bodies (SBs) are small, prominent organelles in pinealocytes, most probably involved in signal transduction processes. To check the influence of the photoperiod on their shape plasticity and number we chose two extreme lighting conditions, i.e. 20 h of illumination followed by 4 h of darkness (LD 20:4) versus (LD 4:20). Functional networks of motor inhibition in conversion disorder patients and feigning subjects

The neural correlates of motor inhibition leading to paresis in conversion disorder are not well known. The key question is whether they are different of those of normal subjects feigning the symptoms. Thirteen conversion disorder patients with hemiparesis and twelve healthy controls were investigated using functional magnetic resonance tomography under conditions of passive motor stimulation of the paretic/feigned paretic and the non-paretic hand. Extended Granger causality: a new tool to identify the structure of physiological networks.

Granger causality (GC) is a very popular tool for assessing the presence of directional interactions between two time series of a multivariate data set. In its original formulation, GC does not account for zero-lag correlations possibly existing between the observed time series. In the present study we compare the GC with a novel measure, termed extended GC (eGC), able to capture instantaneous causal relationships. We present a two-step procedure for the practical estimation of eGC based on first detecting the existence of zero-lag correlations, and then assigning them to one of the two possible causal directions using pairwise measures of non-Gaussianity. Analysis of the extension of Q-waves after infarction with body surface map: relationship with infarct size.

We aimed to characterize the extension of Q-waves after a first ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction using body surface map (BSM) and its relationship with infarct size quantified with cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR).Thirty-five patients were studied 6 months after a first ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (23 anterior, 12 inferior). All cases had single-vessel disease and an open artery. The extension of Q-waves was analyzed by means of a 64-lead BSM. Infarct size was quantified with CMR. Cheek Volumization and the Nasolabial Fold.

Sir: We have read the article by Mowlds and Lambros1 with great interest and enthusiasm. The findings of their study show that the nasolabial fold does not improve after cheek injection. By analyzing three-dimensional images of the face before and immediately after cheek injection of high- G′ hyaluronic acid, they demonstrate that the perceived nasolabial fold improvement, reported after cheek injections,2,3 is attributable to overall improvement in facial appearance rather than to actual nasolabial fold improvement.
