From imprecise probability assessments to conditional probabilities with quasi additive classes of conditioning events

2012

In this paper, starting from a generalized coherent (i.e. avoiding uniform loss) intervalvalued probability assessment on a finite family of conditional events, we construct conditional probabilities with quasi additive classes of conditioning events which are consistent with the given initial assessment. Quasi additivity assures coherence for the obtained conditional probabilities. In order to reach our goal we define a finite sequence of conditional probabilities by exploiting some theoretical results on g-coherence. In particular, we use solutions of a finite sequence of linear systems.

Implementation and evaluation of medical imaging techniques based on conformal geometric algebra

2020

Medical imaging tasks, such as segmentation, 3D modeling, and registration of medical images, involve complex geometric problems, usually solved by standard linear algebra and matrix calculations. In the last few decades, conformal geometric algebra (CGA) has emerged as a new approach to geometric computing that offers a simple and efficient representation of geometric objects and transformations. However, the practical use of CGA-based methods for big data image processing in medical imaging requires fast and efficient implementations of CGA operations to meet both real-time processing constraints and accuracy requirements. The purpose of this study is to present a novel implementation of …

A Cooperative Multi-Agent System for Crowd Sensing Based Estimation in Smart Cities

2020

The concept of Smart City has spread as a solution to ensure better access to information and services to citizens, but also as a means to reduce the environmental footprint of cities. To this end, a continuous and wide observation of the environment is necessary to analyze information that enables government bodies to act on the environment appropriately. Moreover, a diffused acquisition of information requires adequate infrastructure and proper devices, which results in relevant installation and maintenance costs. Our proposal enables reducing the number of necessary sensors to be deployed while ensuring that information is available at any time and anywhere. We present the HybridIoT syst…

L’ambiguïté anaphorique et la résolution automatique de l’anaphore pronominale

2019

Pronominal anaphores can create ambiguities when requesting the correct antecedent. In a context of automation of linguistic and textual processing, several researchers in the field of automatic language processing (TAL) have put in place various approaches to solve the problem. We propose to adapt these approaches to the automatic resolution of pronominal anaphors in a closed body of abstracts of French literary works (RESUMAN).Firstly, linguistic, textual and cognitive models are presented, which report on the functioning and interpretation of personal pronouns in French texts. Then, the interpretation procedures of the pronominalanaphors are exposed : the procedure of minimal distance, t…

A beam search algorithm for minimizing crane times in premarshalling problems

2022

The premarshalling problem consists of sorting the containers placed in a bay of the container yard so that they can be retrieved in the order in which they will be required. We study the premarshalling problem with crane time minimization objective and develop a beam search algorithm, with some new elements adapted to the characteristics of the problem, to solve it. We propose various evaluation criteria, depending on the type of container movement, for its local evaluation; a new heuristic algorithm including local search for blue its global evaluation; and several new dominance rules. The computational study shows the contribution of each new element. The performance of the complete algo…

Approximation of pore space with ellipsoids: a comparison of a geometrical method with a statistical one.

2018

International audience; We work with tomographic images of pore space in soil. The images have large dimensions and so in order to speed-up biological simulations (as drainage or diffusion process in soil), we want to describe the pore space with a number of geometrical primitives significantly smaller than the number of voxels in pore space. In this paper, we use the curve skeleton of a volume to segment it into some regions. We describe the method to compute the curve skeleton and to segment it with a simple segment approximation. We approximate each obtained region with an ellipsoid. The set of final ellipsoids represents the geometry of pore space and will be used in future simulations.…

Differential constraints for iteratively generated curves

2021

Roughness is a complex concept, that is multiscale, and based on the study of the local behavior of a curve or a surface in a given neighborhood. A large number of conventional statistical parameters are currently available to attempt to appreciate this concept in the different application areas that make use of it. But it is often difficult, for a given application domain or a special need, to know precisely which parameter(s) connect(s) the topography of a surface to the physical phenomena that it undergoes. We believe that a geometric characterization should be more suitable. We suggest to control roughness by exploiting the differential behavior of curves and surfaces. We are interested…

Col : A Data Collection Protocol for Vanet

2012

International audience; In this paper, we present a protocol to collect data within a vehicular ad hoc network (VANET). In spite of the intrinsic dynamic of such network, our protocol simultaneously offers three relevant properties: (1) It allows any vehicle to collect data beyond its direct neighborhood (i.e., vehicles within direct communication range) using vehicle-to-vehicle communications only (i.e., the infrastructure is not required); (2) It tolerates possible network partitions; (3) It works on demand and stops when the data collection is achieved. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first collect protocol having these three characteristics. All that is chiefly obtained thanks…

Integration of high resolution spatial and spectral data acquisition systems to provide complementary datasets for cultural heritage applications

2010

International audience; Modern optical measuring systems are able to record objects with high spatial and spectral precision. The acquisition of spatial data is possible with resolutions of a few hundredths of a millimeter using active projection-based camera systems, while spectral data can be obtained using filter-based multispectral camera systems that can capture surface spectral reflectance with high spatial resolution. We present a methodology for combining data from these two discrete optical measuring systems by registering their individual measurements into a common geometrical frame. Furthermore, the potential for its application as a tool for the non-invasive monitoring of painti…

Data-Driven Evolutionary Optimization: An Overview and Case Studies

2019

Most evolutionary optimization algorithms assume that the evaluation of the objective and constraint functions is straightforward. In solving many real-world optimization problems, however, such objective functions may not exist, instead computationally expensive numerical simulations or costly physical experiments must be performed for fitness evaluations. In more extreme cases, only historical data are available for performing optimization and no new data can be generated during optimization. Solving evolutionary optimization problems driven by data collected in simulations, physical experiments, production processes, or daily life are termed data-driven evolutionary optimization. In this…
