Historia Domu Rekolekcyjnego Konferencji Episkopatu Polski "Księżówka" w Zakopanem w latach 1910-1945

2016

Hereditary angiodema: a current state-of-the-art review, VII: Canadian Hungarian 2007 International Consensus Algorithm for the Diagnosis, Therapy, a…

2008

Background We published the Canadian 2003 International Consensus Algorithm for the Diagnosis, Therapy, and Management of Hereditary Angioedema (HAE; C1 inhibitor [C1-INH] deficiency) in 2004. Objective To ensure that this consensus remains current. Methods In collaboration with the Canadian Network of Rare Blood Disorder Organizations, we held the second Canadian Consensus discussion with our international colleagues in Toronto, Ontario, on February 3, 2006, and reviewed its content at the Fifth C1 Inhibitor Deficiency Workshop in Budapest on June 2, 2007. Papers were presented by international investigators, and this consensus algorithm approach resulted. Results This consensus algorithm …

Current Practices in the Management of Pulmonary Ground-Glass Opacities: A Survey of SICT Members

2018

Background Several gray areas and controversies exist concerning the management of pulmonary ground-glass opacities (GGOs), and there is a lack of consensus among clinicians on this topic. One of the main aims of the Italian Society of Thoracic Surgery is to promote education and research, so we decided to perform a survey on this topic to estimate current trends in practice in a large sample of thoracic surgeons. Methods A total of 160 thoracic surgeons responded, namely, completed our questionnaire (response rate, 53%; 160 of 302). The survey was composed of 36 questions divided into six subsections: (1) demographic characteristics of the respondents; (2) terminology and taxonomy; (3) rad…

Preface

2009

This Special Issue of Catalysis Today includes selected papers presented at the 5th European Conference on Solar Chemistry & Photocatalysis: Environmental Applications (SPEA 5). The conference, held from 4th to 8th October 2008, was organized by Leonardo Palmisano and Vincenzo Augugliaro in Palermo (Italy). The 252 delegates (representing 757 authors) who came from many different European and non-European countries delivered four plenary lectures and 49 oral presentations. To emphasise the poster presentation, the 184 posters were briefly introduced by the appropriate Session Chairman before each oral sessions began. Both oral and poster presentations were divided into the following five to…

2021

The year 2020 saw the centenary of the return of Pomerania to Poland, which regained access to the Baltic Sea. This event, along with many other issues connected with the establishment of the Polish state after the First World War, has been the subject of historians’ research for years. This also applies to history educators who analyse the contents of school textbooks. The author of this article, which is consistent with this research trend, decided to analyse dozens of the most popular textbooks for teaching history in secondary schools used by Polish pupils over the past 30 years, i.e. in the period from 1990 to 2020. The article primarily uses the philological and comparative methods. T…

The political and military struggle to incorporate Greater Poland into Poland after World War i, in history textbooks the Case of Polish High School …

2022

The vast majority oj historians view school history education as extremely important. They emphasise that it plays a key role not only in shaping young people s knowledge about the past, but also in defining the historical awareness of the whole ofsociety, because ofiten what students learn at school determines their lijelong knowledge about many historical issues. Unfortunately, awareness o f these obvious statements dpes not go hand in hand with respect for the achievements of history didactics. This is a scientific discipline in which one of the most important research areas is the analysis of school history textbooks, which are still basie sources of students’ knowledge about the past, …

Influence of the effectiveness factors in assessing the shear capacity of RC beams strengthened with FRP

2021

Shear failure of RC beams strengthened with composite textiles is often affected by the different failure modes characterizing the FRP reinforcement. The most relevant analytical models for evaluating the shear capacity of RC beams strengthened with FRP take into account these failure modes by introducing an effectiveness factor “R”, which reduces the ultimate FRP tensile stress. Moreover, the interaction between stirrups and FRP reinforcement leads to a reduced efficiency of the transverse steel reinforcement due to the brittle failure of composite textile which hinders the yielding of all the stirrups involved by critical crack. In this regard, some analytical models introduce an effectiv…
