Firstborns buy better for the greater good: Birth order differences in green consumption values

Despite multiple studies on the role of birth order in shaping human personality, marketing literature has largely neglected its role in shaping consumer behavior. We conducted a high-powered birth-order study on several consumption-related measures (Nmain analyses = 1358), which consistently enabled us to detect effect sizes even smaller than d = 0.20 with a power of 0.90. Correction of the unfavourable effects of vasopressin by nitroglycerin infusion

Nitroglycerin was administered with vasopressin to prevent adverse effects. Vasopressin 0.25U . 70 kg-1 min-1 was infused intravenously in four dogs for 40 minutes, when a venous infusion of nitroglycerin 1.2 micrograms . kg-1 . min-1 was added for 20 minutes. Nitroglycerin 1.2 micrograms . kg-1 . min-1 alone was infused intravenously in another four dogs for 40 minutes. The venous blood pressures (mesenteric and central) and arterial pressures (mesenteric and femoral), the electrocardiogram and arterio-venous difference were recorded. Nitroglycerin was shown to annul the unfavourable effects of vasopressin without altering its efficacy upon portal pressure.

While more and more mobile devices are equipped with both cellular and WLAN interfaces for internet access, the energy consumption aspect of these connections has not been studied in depth in the literature. Multi-Layer Offloading at the Edge for Vehicular Networks

This paper proposes a multi-layer platform for job offloading in vehicular networks. Offloading is performed from vehicles in the Vehicular Domain towards Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) Servers deployed at the edge of the network, and between MEC Servers. Offloading decisions at both domains are challenging for the overall system performance. Optimization at the MEC Layer domain is obtained by model-based Reinforcement Learning, while a strategy to decide the best offloading rate from the Vehicular Domain is defined to achieve the desired trade-off between costs and performance.
