Influence of the U3O7 domain structure on cracking during the oxidation of UO2
2010
Abstract Cracking is observed when a UO 2 single crystal is oxidised in air. Previous studies led to the hypothesis that cracking occurs once a critical depth of U 3 O 7 oxidised layer is reached. We present some μ-Laue X-ray diffraction results, which evidence that the U 3 O 7 layer, grown by topotaxy on UO 2 , is made of domains with different crystalline orientations. This observation was used to perform a modelling of oxidation coupling chemical and mechanical parameters, which showed that the domain patterning induces stress localisation. This result is discussed in comparison with stress localisation observed in thin layer deposited on a substrate and used to propose an interpretation…
Reaction of LiArMe6 (ArMe6= C6H3-2,6-(C6H2-2,4,6-Me3)2) with indium(I)chloride yields three m-terphenyl stabilized mixed-valent organoindium subhalid…
2016
Abstract Indium(I)chloride reacts with LiAr Me 6 ( Ar Me 6 = C6H3-2,6-(C6H2-2,4,6-Me3)2) in THF to give three new mixed-valent organoindium subhalides. While the 1:1 reaction of InCl with LiAr Me 6 yields the known metal-rich cluster In8( Ar Me 6 )4 (1), the use of freshly prepared LiAr Me 6 led to incorporation of iodide, derived from the synthesis of LiAr Me 6 , into the structures, to afford In4( Ar Me 6 )4I2 (2) along with minor amounts of In3( Ar Me 6 )3I2 (3). When the same reaction was performed in 4:3 stoichiometry, the mixed-halide compound In3( Ar Me 6 )3ClI (4) was obtained. Further increasing the chloride:aryl ligand ratio resulted in the formation of the known mixed-halide spe…
Cleavage of Ge–Ge and Sn–Sn Triple Bonds in Heavy Group 14 Element Alkyne Analogues (EAriPr4)2 (E = Ge, Sn; AriPr4 = C6H3-2,6(C6H3-2,6-iPr2)2) by Rea…
2016
The reactions of heavier group 14 element alkyne analogues (EAriPr4)2 (E = Ge, Sn; AriPr4 = C6H3-2,6-(C6H3-2,6-iPr2)2) with the group 6 transition-metal carbonyls M(CO)6 (M = Cr, Mo, W) under UV irradiation resulted in the cleavage of the E–E triple bond and the formation of the complexes {AriPr4EM(CO)4}2 (1–6), which were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction as well as by IR and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy. Single-crystal X-ray structural analyses of 1–6 showed that the complexes have a nearly planar rhomboid M2E2 core with three-coordinate group 14 atoms. The coordination geometry at the group 6 metals is distorted octahedral formed by four carbonyl groups as well as two br…
Iron(II) complex of 2-(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine-4-carboxylic acid (ppCOOH) suitable for surface deposition
2018
The synthesis, structural and magnetic characterization of the tris iron(II) complex of 2-(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine-4-carboxylic acid (ppCOOH) ligand are reported in [Fe(ppCOOH)3](ClO4)2·0.5H2O·2EtOH. Single crystal structure and magnetic characterization of the bulk compound show that the low-spin state is dominant from 2 to 400 K. ESI-MS and UV–Vis spectroscopy experiments indicate that acetonitrile solutions of this complex are stable with time. ESI-MS confirms the presence of the tris complex in solution. This complex can be deposited onto SiO2 surfaces due to the presence of carboxylic acid groups by immersing the substrates into acetonitrile solutions of the complex. XPS spectra of th…

International audience; Addition of alkyne to [CpMoCl2]2 affords compounds CpMoCl2(η2-alkyne) (alkyne = EtC[triple bond, length as m-dash]CMe, 1; EtC[triple bond, length as m-dash]CEt, 2; PhC[triple bond, length as m-dash]CMe, 3; PhC[triple bond, length as m-dash]CPh, 4) in good yields. The compounds have been characterised by C,H analyses, IR, EPR and mass spectroscopies, magnetic susceptibility, and cyclic voltammetry. In addition, a single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis has been carried out for compound 4. The alkyne ligand adopts an almost parallel conformation relative to the Cp ring, essentially identical with that of previously reported Nb, Ta, and W analogues. Geometry optimisat…
Organotin(IV) Complexes Containing Sn–O–Se Moieties: A Structural Inventory
2018
This review focuses on organotin compounds exhibiting Sn–O–Se moieties, the molecular structures of which have been previously resolved by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Three distinct classes of compounds have been identified. Thus, the various modes of coordination of selenite, selenate and organoseleninate anions with tin atoms of organotin(IV) fragments are illustrated and detailed.1 Introduction2 Organotin(IV) Selenite Complexes3 Organotin(IV) Selenate Complexes4 Organotin(IV) Organoseleninate Complexes5 Summary
The influence of CH bond polarization on the self-association of 2-acylaminopyrimidines by NH/CH···O/N interactions: XRD, NMR, DFT, and AIM study
2013
The single crystal structures of two 2-acylaminopyrimidines, where alkyl groups in acyl moiety are iso-propyl (1) and dichloromethyl (2), were solved by X-ray diffraction method. The strength of intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions depends on the C–H bond polarization increased by exchanging two methyl groups by chlorine atoms in the adjacent substituent. The computational methods provide an additional insight into the intermolecular interactions and are utilized in explaining the differences in the observed crystal structures. The experimental and computational data together explain the differences in the formed aggregates and revealed that these simple substitutions cause crucial …
Tri- and tetranuclear heteropivalate complexes with core {Fe2Ni O} (x = 1, 2): Synthesis, structure, magnetic and thermal properties
2019
Abstract The reactions of complex [Fe2Ni(O)(Piv)6(Et2O)(H2O)2] (1) with 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy) gave the following new coordination compounds: the trinuclear complex [Fe2Ni(O)(Piv)6(phen)H2O]·(C2H5)2O (2), the tetranuclear ones [Fe2Ni2(OH)2(Piv)8(phen)2] (3) and [Fe2Ni2(OH)2(Piv)8(bpy)2] (4), depending on the crystallization conditions. According to single crystal X-ray diffraction data, all the compounds have molecular structures. The Mossbauer spectra of 1–3 correspond to high-spin Fe3+ ions in an octahedral environment consisting of oxygen atoms. The DC magnetic susceptibility studies and quantum-chemical analysis of intra- and intermolecular J pathways using…

1998
Abstract A new dinuclear nickel(II) coordination compound of formula Ni2(Hpt)2(H2O)6(NO3)4 (Hpt=3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole) was synthesized. The structure was solved at 298 K by single-crystal X-ray analysis. Bisμ-bis(3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole-N′,N1,N2) bistriaqua nickel(II) tetranitrate (C14H24N12O18Ni2) crystallizes in the triclinic space group P-1, a=7.2266(1), b=9.9144(1), c=11.2647(1) A, α=66.854(1)°, β=74.000(1)°, γ=86.400(2)°, V=712.42(1) A3, Z=1 (dinuclear units), 2823 reflections (1 > 2σ(I)), R1=0.0442, wR2=0.1197. The Ni(II) ions are bridged by two neutral Hpt ligands coordinating via N1 and N2 in the equatorial plane, Ni(1)-Ni(1)′=4.098(1) A. The Hpt bridging mode is a…
Reversible Digital And Holographic Optical Storafe In Polymeric Liquid Crystals (PLC)
1987
A new reversible optical storage technique based on azo dye containing liquid crystalline polymers and copolymers is described. Monodomain films of the polymers were used as storage medium. Digital and holographic information was stored and reconstructed. The stored information can be erased and the writing process is repeatable. The storage process is explained in terms of a transcis isomerization of the mesogen inducing local director field distortions.
