Thanks to SfM (Image Based Modeling) survey techniques, is possible to realize 3D models of every object, in a very short time and with limited economical and training resources, today. These semi-automated SfM software allow users to simply upload photos and follow a mediated workflow, without any complex inner workings of SfM and this can be especially advantageous to users in non-technical fields or to those with limited resources. In the first decades of the nineteenth century a form of puppet theater was established in Sicily, specialized in the staging of epic-chivalrous events: the opra î pupi (work of the puppets), which has since enjoyed enormous success among the working classes Sicilians. The work of the pupi has the merit of imploding an articulated complex of traditionally formalized competences (from the material to the expressive level) and at the same time reflecting the socio-symbolic values on which until recently the Sicilian popular culture was founded. La Sala dei Venti è uno dei più suggestivi luoghi del Palazzo dei Normanni a Palermo, si tratta di una struttura sita all’interno della Gioaria, una torre medievale dell’originale nucleo arabo-normanno, antistante la Sala di Ruggero, coperta da un soffitto ligneo dipinto, risalente al XVIII secolo, al centro del quale campeggia una rosa dei Venti che dà il nome all’ambiente. La recente digitalizzazione di un dipinto di anonimo siciliano nelle collezioni del Museo de Historia di Madrid e il suo inserimento nei database del patrimonio culturale spagnolo ed europeo ha consentito di riportare all’attenzione della comunità scientifica un’importante raffigurazione pittorica della tribuna di Antonello Gagini nella Cattedrale di Palermo. Dopo avere ripercorso le principali fonti documentarie ed iconografiche relative alla tribuna, viene qui presentata l’opera oggi a Madrid, che fornisce un prezioso riscontro alle fonti fin qui note.
A comparative thermogravimetric study of waterlogged archaeological and sound woods

Waterlogged archaeological woods Pinus pinaster and Fagus sylvatica L. were analyzed by using TG technique. Degradation processes ascribable to the holocellulose decay were evidenced at nearly the same temperature for sound and archaeological samples. The residual matters at 600 and 900 °C of the sound woods are much lower than those of archaeological waterlogged woods in agreement with the presence of inorganic materials encapsulated during the burial into the marine environment. Abstract This study focuses on the characterization of black crusts collected from the Monza cathedral located in the homonymous city (N Italy), a hot spot from the point of view of the atmospheric pollution.
