This paper deals with a perturbation problem from a period annulus, for an analytic Hamiltonian system [J.-P. Françoise, Ergodic Theory Dynam. Systems 16 (1996), no. 1, 87–96 ; L. Gavrilov, Ann. Fac. Sci. Toulouse Math. (6) 14(2005), no. 4, 663–682. The authors consider the planar polynomial multi-parameter deformations and determine the coefficients in the expansion of the displacement function generated on a transversal section to the period annulus. Orbital insolation forcing of the Indian Monsoon – a motor for global climate changes?

Abstract Both modern and ancient Indian summer monsoons are driven by transequatorial pressure differences, directly coupled with the insolation difference between the Northern and Southern subtropical Hemispheres. A high-resolution record of upwelling and dust flux from the western Arabian Sea resembles an insolation-based Indian Summer Monsoon Index. This index and the observed monsoonal climate variations share major elements on the orbital obliquity and precessional band with the Specmap marine oxygen isotope record, representing global ice volume. Effects of external imbalances on GDP recovery patterns

Abstract A decade after the beginning of the Great Recession, flow external imbalances, measured by the current account (CA) have narrowed markedly. However, stock or net foreign assets (NFA) imbalances have kept increasing and have created challenges for future macroeconomic and financial stability. To date, early warning systems (scoreboards) have focused more on flow than on stock variables. To approach this problem, in this paper we analyze expansions using two complementary sets of indicators proposed by Harding and Pagan (2002) and Gadea et al. (2017) for the period 1950–2016. Parasite specificity in Podarcis bocagei and P. carbonelli (Lacertidae) from NW Portugal: a host-parasite history

Host parasite specificity is related to several factors including the type of life cycle of the parasite, the habitat occupied by both parasites and hosts, and the food habits of the hosts. In this work, gastrointestinal helminths in two congeneric lacertid lizards, Podarcis bocagei and Podarcis carbonelli living in sintopy, have been analysed. Out of four helminth species found, three of them, the trematode Brachylaima sp., the cestode Oochoristica gallica and the nematode Skrjabinelazia hoffmanni, have indirect life cycles while the nematode Spauligodon carbonelli has a direct life cycle. Abstract The return to normal marine conditions in the Mediterranean Sea after the end of the Messinian Salinity Crisis (MSC), that led to the deposition of thick evaporitic succession followed by settlement of brackish to freshwater conditions of the “Lago-Mare”, is still subject to extensive debate between two opposite scenarios. Cyclic fluctuations, climatic changes and role of noise in planktonic foraminifera in the Mediterranean Sea

The study of Planktonic Foraminifera abundances permits to obtain climatic curves on the basis of percentage ratio between tropical and temperate/polar forms. Climatic changes were controlled by several phenomena as: (i) Milankovitch's cycles, produced by variations of astronomical parameters such as precession, obliquity and eccentricity; (ii) continental geodynamic evolution and orogenic belt; (iii) variations of atmospheric and oceanic currents; (iv) volcanic eruptions; (v) meteor impacts. Abstract Temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) and temperature-programmed oxidation (TPO) have been used to study the various cobalt species formed in a cobalt catalyst (Co 1 wt.%) supported on alumina-baria, with composition Al2O3(80 wt.%)–BaO (20 wt.%). The catalyst was synthesized by incipient-wetness impregnation of the support with a water solution of cobalt acetylacetonate and calcined at 550 °C for 5 h. Trends and cycles in U.S. job mobility

Recent studies document a decline in U.S. labor-market fluidity from as early as the 1970s on. Making use of the Annual Social and Economic (ASEC) supplement to the Current Population Survey (CPS), I uncover a pronounced increase in job-to-job mobility from the 1970s to the 1990s, i.e., the annual share of continuously employed job-to-job movers rises from 5.9 percent of the labor force in 1975–1979 to 8.8 percent in 1995–1999. Job-to-job mobility exhibits a downward trend only since the turn of the millennium.
